Claudio Bravo

Has to be said all Blues need to make Bravo feel welcome when he comes, it's really not his fault what Joe's going through and he's here to help Pep who in turn want's to help take this club to the next level. It's all good intentions in the interests of what's best for the club in the short term. The sooner all positions are playing Pep's way the better, I think Pep will be a huge success for us and might fall in love with City and stay for 6 years if we can avoid making too much of a fuss over the odd decision we don't agree with. Then again he probably knows we love a good moan already.

Can you imagine the uproar if he got rid of ronaldhino ,deco, eto, zlatan and sweinsteiger...from us? He's paid a lot of money to make decisions in the best interest of the club not the fans..not everyone will like them but he invariably gets it right. In pep we trust...or should..

The problem is he needs to be better at everything. It's all well and good making a pass out from the back but he needs to be able to protect his goal too. Those saying Pep doesn't think that's going to be an issue are deluded. Did you see our First 2 matches?? Had we been playing even a half decent team we would have lost both. Sadly the Pep brigade will not see or accept that, but it was as plain as day! Bravo is not a better shot stopper than Hart so we will come a cropper when we play those half decent teams.
No he doesn't, it's that simple. He is a goalkeeper, his job is to help us not concede goals, you have to put Hart in net & Bravo in net playing the style we want to play & say, who will concede more goals?

Look at it this way, lets say for the sake of argument Hart is a better shot stopper & Bravo is a better player of the ball - how many mistakes leading to a goal will poor shot stopping have over the season? Bravo actually had far less than Hart last season, but let's say.. 5? Now how many mistakes leading to goals will we have with a keeper unable to pass trying to play out from the back all the time every game? I assure you it will be far, far higher; just look at pre-season & our first few matches, we've given away at least 10 golden chances from poor kicking by the keeper - over the course of the season we'd easily concede more goals/chances from passing errors than shot-stopping errors, as we will, without a doubt, be playing it out from the back regardless of who's in net. Therefore he doesn't have to be better at everything at all, to improve the teams chances of winning he'll need to be better at passing out from the back.

You add to that the fact that Bravo is actually a bloody good shot stopper anyway & the stats seem to suggest he's better than Hart in that aspect, well then I don't think your argument holds up.

What happens if City can't find a buyer for Hart? Would that scupper a deal for Bravo?

Here is my take on it. A (the) key element in Pep's tactic is to put pressure on the opponents. When we have lost the ball we attack them to get it back ASAP, and when we have the ball we move it forward and around quickly, so the opposing team can never relax. The high possession rate is a consequence of the high energy pressing, not a goal in itself.
The defense is key in keeping this pressure up on the opposing team, because as soon as we win the ball we have to attack. Therefore Pep wanted Stones, and therefore he wants Bravo. Surely Joe and Willy can also pass the ball to one of our players. Willy is giving it a good go as far as I am concerned. But those who cannot see that Bravo is able to do this passing quicker, sharper and more precise, well they do not want to see it. Bravo is exactly the 11th field player Pep needs to implement his high energy pressure play. Only Neuer would be better, but we can't get him.
Getting Bravo will enable our team to shift the pressing up one gear when switching from defending to attacking, and thus make us more of a Pep team.

Nobody wanting the england gk...surely not..
The top 4 clubs all have keepers: Cech, Courtois etc. They buy Hart, they have to sell their own keeper and there are a limited number of clubs who can pay £100k per week wages.

You only have to consider the lack of clubs coming in for Hart to think he's not all he's cracked up to be. With Crystal Palace able to spend 35m on a player surely an ambitious club in the premier league would want to sign England's current No 1 goalkeeper...in theory they should be falling over themselves and Joe should want to play football.

I've been a lone voice for a long time saying that Joe is not a good enough GK for a club with our ambitions. I'm delighted Pep has realised this too but Joe should go as a City legend and will always be remembered fondly for the history changing he was a part of.
