made a video discussing him if anyone fancies a watch! includes some thoughts and some highlights too.
The points you make are spot on imo, about signing kids who look better than all the rest, rather than waiting & then paying the ridiculous fees the rags etc are creating. And also regarding Pep.
IF it's true that he is involved at this stage, it would be a bit of a shit trick for him to persuade young players to come, when he himself isn't planning on being here, so it does suggest he's planning for the next team, after this one, which is very exciting. It's just a shame for some of the best kids here over the past 5 years or so, who reached such a high level at times & are now on their way to being journeymen having never had a sniff of a chance. They were just born too soon.
Now Pep is here & giving the young players a higher profile, it sends out the right message & helps redeem our reputation in that area, thus increases our chances of getting the best players on board. And one or two of the older ones may come back.
Re this kid, he looks like he's possibly already developed that ability to shake off & intercept bigger opponents, the stage which Diaz & Foden are just now reaching. That would make him a genuine contender for first team game time (if we keep him here).
I used to watch SWP bouncing huge beasts off the ball & floating away from them on muddy shit tip pitches in the youth teams, & then hear City fans saying who had barely seen him, saying he's too small to get a chance in the first team. This lad looks as if he has that about him & perhaps could be a 'play anywhere' kind of player, which could get him games early in his career.
