A lovely gesture and much deserved. A wonderful player and fantastic captain. I'm so happy he left having won the treble and as much as I'd love him with us still, what a time to go! I'm sure he'll be back in the future, and very much hope he will be.

Always? It's human nature to justify a decision once made as the decision you always wanted, but we know there was an opportunity lost, that had it been taken, the outcome could've been different.

We wanted him to stay that's true, but clearly not enough to persuade him to stay.
We wanted Kyle Walker to stay, but not enough, then we realised he was serious about Bayern, so when shit got real we got real with Kyle and he stayed.
We didn't do that with Ilkay.
