I find that hard to believe. For those who have taken coke would you recommend to someone like me who has never had it to try it once or not?
Most of your posts suggest a man who is completely off his tits and disconnected from reality.

Ecstasy is like kissing God. Coke is like kissing the devil.
You're going to have to trust me on this but Ritalin even at high doses is nothing like a pure hit of cocaine. There's stimulation, a sense of euphoria and a greater element of control shared between them both. Plus they're not too different chemically. But at that scale it's still a significant difference.Whilst I’ve never taken cocaine, I do miss the days when Ritalin worked. I imagine you’d have to take insanely high doses to induce a similar effect but it has been compared to coke as their chemical structure is alike.
When it proved to be effective, I could finally sit still, concentrate, remember what I read and my auditory recall wasn’t impaired for a change. It pretty much normalised my clusterfuck of a mind.

Coke's psychoactive properties are dominant when you take it, whereas Ritalin is a much more simple stimulant. It's more comparable to amphetamine if anything. Another thing is IIRC high doses of Ritalin made me completely incapable of thinking; almost zombifying myself.
If you ever hear anyone compare the two it's likely they had some coke mixed with a stimulant, like caffeine, amphetamine or even Ritalin.
No worries :).Thanks for your response.
I must be a lightweight as any dose higher than 5mg invariably leads to that zombified state you speak of.
I fear I’ve destroyed my brain by taking Ritalin for over a year.
At the beginning, my ADHD was finally under control. But alas, at around the 3 month stage I became apathetic and saturnine.
I would do anything to think as clearly as I did during my first few months on Ritalin. I don’t know what’s changed. :(
Apparently, 160 of those "nipple headed" liberty cap mushrooms, when added to a pint of water, boiled for 5 minutes, steeped for 48 hours, mixed with a large glug of Vimto, passed through a sieve the sipped gently over 30 minutes has a really earthy flavour and produces the most amazing psychedelic high.
So I'm told.
No worries :).
Ritalin works differently on people who use them for purposes other than ADHD treatment like myself (I used it as a study buddy). I think people who actually need it are far more sensitive. You need to be careful as I've read in the past this is the start of a slope leading to a depressive state.
I think you're experiencing a common side effect of over-use of a stimulant. But it's kind of the point, because you're brain isn't constantly leading you astray as it's zombified. My former housemate quit the stuff and turned to seeing a psychiatrist instead of taking Ritalin because he was experiencing what you were. I'd talk to your doctor about it, I'm sure it's a common side effect and it could easily be something small like a dosage issue rather than anything.
I don't know if you are but checkout and join this reddit forum https://www.reddit.com/r/ADHD. Excellent source of advice, much beyond my own knowledge. The wonderful thing about the internet is you never have to be alone :)
Thanks again.
I am subscribed to that sub but unsurprisingly no one seems to have any concrete answers as to why Ritalin can cause an emotional blunting effect, even on low doses. Concerta was even worse, and Vyvanse/Elvanse didn’t mitigate any of my symptoms.
If Ritalin hadn’t been as effective at the beginning, I imagine I would have given up on it quite some time ago. I don’t think it was merely ‘the Honeymoon period’ as I only experienced euphoria on a few occasions.
Unfortunately I am no longer a patient of an ADHD clinic and my doctor cannot alter my prescription without consent from a specialist.
I guess I could try microdosing shrooms. :S
