Cole Palmer

My take:

He wanted more playing time. Pep told him with Mahrez leaving he would get more. He still wanted to leave.
So we sold him.

I honestly believe he has great potential. He is instinctive with the ball and can find the back of the net.
However, i never felt he showed that fully while with us. Flashes maybe, but not the world standard to get a regular place in the squad.

Now the thing is, there was no guarantees of him getting enough football to realise his full potential.
So i don't blame him for wanting to move.
Their is nothing wrong with a hungry player wanting to risk a move. It may work out it may not.
It is his choice, his gamble.

On a football level, i don't give a shit how he develops, now he has left us.

On a personal level, i can only wish the best for him. I hope he has a terrific career and is a complete success!
I agree with all of this. He's a good player but no longer ours. He left for the right reasons, more playing time. Best of luck to him.

Yeah; I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter what team a player supported as a kid. How many of our regular first teamers were blues growing up? Haaland, Foden....?

Haaland would have supported whichever club his dad was playing for at the time.

I couldn't give a toss which clubs any of our players support. They're just lads doing a job.

That’s all true, but whenever I saw Palmer in games my son and myself left the ground saying we weren’t sure Palmer quite had what it takes with his decision making. That pass to Foden was exactly the sort of decision and execution we never saw from Palmer.
Agree though with a fully fit squad not sure where he gets minutes.
The main issue remains his lack of pace which is difficult for a wide player. But he is a clever player and he may end up as a number 10. It is still too early to call whether Palmer will become a major star.

Totally agree, Pep never saw Cole in the same light as Phil & only really played him in dead rubbers or cup games.

Still believe it's been a good deal for all parties,
We got a decent fee for a player who didn't want to stay, Chelsea got a young prospect for less than half what they paid for Enso or Mudryk & Cole got the chance to fulfill his potential in his preferred position.

Similar to Sterling, Jesus & Zinc leaving, I wish them well but at the same time I'm not gutted that they have left

He’ll have a good career. Clearly has bags of talent, that goal v Luton was superb. Hes young and appears to be a but full of himself, but who wasnt when they were a young lad?
fine line between being confident and being a scrote, hope he keeps the right side of it.

Correct, they were all good players but it was Pep that added the rest.

Exactly this. Never saw him have an excellent game for us. Periodic flashes of what could be, but nothing more.

I hope that he reaches his potential because there is a world of possibility ahead of him if he gets it right and has a bit of luck.

Wish him every success at Chelsea and beyond.
Fair comment that.
