Cole Palmer

:) It's a little inconsistent of you to say Palmer is shining at the moment because he is playing in a mid-table team, and then also say he is part of the reason they are a mid-table team.

It's also a little weird to criticise City fans who appreciate an ex-academy player when there are just as many who wash their hands of him because he was a United fan growing up. It's all weird, but it's just two different sides of human nature.

But the weirdest thing of all is your obsession with the whole thing. We get it, you don't rate him particularly highly at the moment. It really isn't that important. Let it go, you don't have to convince everyone you are right all the time.
Ok.

Well he took them away from more senior players at Chelsea and seemingly has a knack for taking them. People always seem to suggest pens are easy but how many have City missed over the last 5 years? Even Haaland misses them! There is a certain skill involved when putting away a penalty, and Palmer appears to have it.
First thing you need is confidence and coolness which he has in abundance. Pleased for him that he is doing well at Chelsea. Still gets home frequently and was at the home Derby match on the 3rd March and in his old local after the game, not forgotten his roots.

He certainly doesn't seem to lack confidence. Let's hope he can keep it on the pitch in a positive way and not let it get in the way.

And how many of those Rags in the 'away' end would, on 90+9 be anticipating going back home with a 2-3 away win - couple o' stops on the tube - and then FergieTime bites their scarlet arses, not once but twice! Oh, the irony! My heart is bleeding! They'll be having the post-match post-mortem down that pub in Holborn, Bleeding Heart Yard.

I saw a lot of Cole over at the Academy and liked what I saw. He's a lovely footballer who plays the game with a smile, but I'm glad we have Jezzer.

Sterling took the penalty duties from Palmer the last time, and he missed it.

I get the same vibe too. Even when he was playing for us, I felt there's this cockiness to him. Whether that's good for his long term future remains to be seen. This is no doubt going to sound like I'm bitter over an academy player's departure.

There are moments of him not putting in a defensive shift at Chelsea, which a coach like Poch might turn a blind eye to, but will definitely not fly with Pep. Ironically, he didn't seem to do that when playing for us.

At the end of the day, he got what he wanted, and he's done well for himself. So fair play to him, he's a good footballer.

Against us there his tracking back and work rate was there all the other games I've watched he doesn't do that

Some weird posts on this thread.

Personally I wanted Palmer to stay, but apparently he wanted to leave, so a good move for all concerned.

What we don't know is how much he would have contributed in a City shirt this season, especially after De Bruyne's injury.
Obviously he wouldn't have been taking our penalties, but equally we might have fared better in the Carabao Cup, or not dropped as many silly points v Palace and Spurs etc

His goals tally might be inflated by penalties, but even without them, he's still scored more than all our new signings combined
