Cole Palmer

I think we should be doing everything we can to keep him. For me has has more potential than Doku and in the long term will end up being a top class player.

Ready made/closer to it vs long term investment
Difficult to see how he has more potential to me. What Cole lacks he’ll never have where as Doku has great acceleration, skill and strength. Can work on his end product at that age.

If the comments about wanting to leave should we sign someone are accurate then it seems like he'll almost certainly move on now Doku is coming in.

West Ham and Brighton are the two main clubs he's been linked with. I'm guessing we'd want around 30m though.

I think Pep is testing Palmer with his comments around the possibility of him leaving. If he chooses to stay he will get chances and could establish himself as a genuine first teamer.
Doku will take time to integrate and Palmer's years of experience in playing the City way may see him preferred for certain games.

Doku can play on the left too leaving room on the right where Palmer has played his best so far.

The first thing is Palmer is not a winger but like most he is happy to just play and get game time for City,
Would make a great central midfield player with an eye for goals given time, But modern young players don't like waiting to be a first-team player and will move for game time,

I always feel this is the trouble with our academy players, Not that they are not talented or good enough for first-team football, it's the levels that Manchester City are at right now and the pressure that comes with being a first-team player,

Pep has not built this club with time on his hands to bed in youth players, it's impossible for Pep to ask and demand from the academy players the success and levels we are at right now, The protection Pep gives the young players is fantastic and I don't see it at any other club,

This is why players sometimes never reach the levels they should reach, Jadon Sancho is the prime example and moving on because he wanted first-team football, Well, Pep knows best and too much too soon has taken its toll on Sancho and look at him now at united,

Palmer needs to take stock hold out and be a squad player at Manchester City, Sometimes you don't see the bigger picture, Maybe a move will be fine in the short term, But when the demands of the manager and club after the honeymoon period is over and it starts to hit home there is nowhere to hide,

You have to be a very very good young player to produce it every week at a young age, Pep never asks for that sort of pressure with the youth players that are in and around the first team, That is the difference they don't see until it's too late and moved on

He was annonymous & looked lost the couple of times I saw him play centrally. He deffo looked better out wide, but whether left, central or right, we've got better already which means Palmer either remains patient & awaits his chance, or moves on with sell on & buy back clauses.

Hes played the vast majority of his career on the right wing

Palmer is a winger, you would have to be an idiot to say otherwise.

Anyways.

If its just Doku coming in, there is still plenty of minutes imo for Palmer, like guaranteed 2000+.

If we bring in Doku + another attacking player then I think his minutes go down drastically.

But Pep said we wont loan, only sell, he either means buyback or full sell.

Anything less than 40m would be moronic considering his potential and homegrown status and its so late in the window I doubt anybody does that.

I personally don't see it. But understand he is young enough to prove me wrong
