Colonoscopy have you had one.

Had several over 2 year period due to emergency surgery on my bowel 5 years ago after it burst until I got the all clear. Imo the meds are worse than the actual procedure, hated taking them and just basically sitting on toilet for day and half. Just sent off a self test for bowel cancer week ago and fingers crossed for the all clear

I had one in January, and the throat one immediately before it. The throat one was awful. I gagged when they inserted the camera tube, and it was very uncomfortable for the minute or so of the procedure.

The colonoscopy was not as uncomfortable. It took about ten minutes to complete. They were looking for reasons my iron levels have dropped, but found nothing untoward.

The prep for the colonoscopy is very unpleasant. I had to drink 500ml of an awful tasting liquid, which was salty with a vague hint of orange, followed by 1 litre of water. Then wait for the after effects. Repeat this two hours later, and then spend the rest of the night within close proximity of the toilet.

Overall, a pretty horrible experience. (The prep).

i've had a few going up the other natural aperture into the bladder. It gets better after the first couple-not!! But no preparation except an empty bladder and the ability to curl your toes continuously for 5 minutes.

You must be glad it was in that order rather than reversed.

Science has come a long way The one I had was amazing. It seems these days they put the camera on the fingertip. With mine, to ensure a good picture they used 2 cameras.

All ok today. The Gastro removed 2 small polyps, nasty little buggers that can turn cancerous. But no signs of anything bad.

Give me some FOOD !!

In terms of the procedure itself, colonoscopies are much easier for me.

But the prep. Oh my god, the prep.

The actual procedure was fine.

Had the one down the throat take sedation if offered. I just took the drink to dumb the throat but let a trainee try. Big mistake !!! Never again knock me out first lol

To help with ring burn I was told to apply Vaseline before you start shitting. Then every 3 hours or so.
It worked.
