Colourful Drinking Establishments

Used to drink in boozer owned by ex Celtic and Northern Ireland winger Bertie Peacock - it had some right characters in there.

According to my mp, the green end is now owned by a consortium based on Stockport rd Longsight, above one of the takeaways.
They are looking at their options, but I've been told that it's a listed building in someway, and the windows have to be retained.
(Unless a "tommy ducks" happens or a mysterious fire etc..) who knows? :$

I have fond memories of the Church in Hyde, my old man used to take me in there in the back tap room, they had a dart board with no trebles, just a slice of tree that you had to throw your darts at 500mph just to get em to stick in.
Think I was about 12 when he gave me half a boddies brain damage which I slurped straight back without a care, waited until my dad was throwing his darts then legged it to the bogs to throw up....The Hull Cheese too, cracking pubs.. Great memories..!

the crown, church and cheese were a 30second walk from one another, the shepherds call a little further up Market st was a bit of a boozer
in it's day but the one that struck me was The Talbot, full of wrong uns 24 hrs a day, run by a old irish bloke...which takes me to the irish club
up the road where the oddfellows used to be, dark dingy fucking place.

The slice of tree is called a log end, cracking dart board that.

Slightly off topic but I didn't feel it deserved starting a new thread. Does anyone know what was the Gallaghers drinking establishment when they still lived in Burnage? I've heard various places mentioned but just wondered if anybody actually knew?

Monroe's near Piccadilly used to be called the Nip and Tipple.
The sign outside was of a barmaid with jutty nips on show.

When was this?

We've established it was called The White Hart immediately before Monroes.

There is a Nip and Tipple in Whalley Range.

I had a copy of definitely maybe before they became known. Lad across the road give it me saying he had got it from his mate who had been mates with Liam who had said 'We're in a band, we're going to be famous'
In the following weeks posters appeared all over Manchester advertising the release of shakermaker. Apparently, the conversation took place in the Manor House near Christies ... The pub has gone now. Fuck all there.

Appreciate the response. Thanks mate. I was told the Framers Arms on Burnage Lane was their local before they hit the big time but have often wondered?
