Football tactician supremo Jonathan Wilson has launched a new football paper that is called the Blizzard:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.theblizzard.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.theblizzard.co.uk/</a>

Him and various other top football reporters (Issue Zero features Marcotti, Auclair, Honigstein and Murray) got together to release a quarterly journal which shys away from populist perceptions and releases actual articles. About football.

Simple idea really, but I think Wilson has found a niche in the market here and I like his Mission Statement concerning the current state of football journalism and how it has transitioned into a digital medium.

Issue Zero is a pay-what-you-want download, and then Issue One will be paper based. What do you guys think? Good idea or bad idea?

The ordinary fan is desperate for some 'balanced' reporting. Even the so-called daily and weekly qualities have over the last season or so had a swipe at whatever they fancied without any element of balance. I'm not talking about reading articles with which I wholly agree but in-depth debate and discussion about issues which, for example, the FA are happy to sweep under the carpet.

I could never understand why we never had in this country a daily equivalent of the MUEN's Football Pink or Football Green.

Looks interesting. It would be nice if they also did a pdf version for people abroad.

Edit: I mean for future issues. :)

Get yourselves Issue Zero, this magazine/journal thing is a fucking triumph. I'm subscribing for the £30 a year.

Issue Zero is downloadable now, for a "pay what you want" fee. I paid 20p as I wasn't expecting much from it, but it's fantastic value.

Not sure about Issue One. They say it's a quarterly publication, and having seen the zeroth issue, I can see why.

Honestly though, this could be the best football journal I've ever read, and I read a lot.

I got the Issue 1 hard copy for the cheapest price (£6.74 in p+p) and it really is excellent. The pieces are all superb and physically it's very attractive. Plus, no adverts.

ok bumped this as i've just downloaded issue zero; reminds me of the Perfect Pitch stuff Simon Kuper put together. Just read the St Pauli article and i honestly feel his wil put my faith back into football writing. A real alternative to the drivel the hacks turn out.

I'm ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶t̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ scared to pay for things over the internet. Could you not post it here ?

Paid $0.02 for Issue Zero and it looks nice, so have you got your hands on a proper printed copy?

I don't mind the digital especially for the cheap price but isdishing out £50 for the hard-copy year subscription worth it?
