Commentary | Aston Villa away (pg 14)

Not football's answer to Richie Bernard but miles better than the usual fayre.
So many are happy just to get a 'fayre' commentary.

McCoist is great, I only really listen to the breakfast show when it's him and Brazil as they know how to have a laugh. The Prime coverage is on a different par to anything else. It has the feel that it is more grownup than BT and in a new age compared to Sky, which just seems the same since the 90's.
On a side, it's good to see Simon Thomas back doing what he enjoys. I have a lot of time and respect for that fella.
I think there is a strong chance that Amazon will grab most of the football broadcasting rights when they are renewed. When that happens I think they will have a similar impact to when SKY launched. The other big plus from Amazon Prime is that is staggeringly cheap. SKY have just not moved with the times. SKY have been taking the piss for years doing things like asking me to pay more to watch a HD picture on my HD TV.

Very impressive. I think the pundits were just told to be themselves and talk about what they saw because Amazon can afford not to give a shit about appeasing the rags and dippers.

Sky and BT clearly have a narrative that their pundits are told to stick to.

Then 4k?

We fucked sky off before that really got going but I would presume they charge extra for 4k.

McCoist always manages to sound enthused & as if he's enjoying himself - he's a media natural in that respect. It's hard not to warm to his almost childlike excitement.

Once or twice, Owen almost looked like he has a character. Almost.

Dixon spoilt it a bit with his odd assertion that Pep’s teams were possibly only good because he was always "given" all the best players. And he grew up a City fan !

Really enjoyed listening to Eddie Howe as well, love it when an actual manger does punditry gives such an interesting incite rather than listening to the clueless ramblings of Owen, Dixon, carragher etc

Can we have Peter Drury and Ally McCoist on every game for the rest of the season?

Thought they were both brilliant tonight and it made for a far more enjoyable experience/viewing. Obviously the main focus is the football but a good commentary pair doesn't half make it better for the viewer.

I wish we didn't have to play on BT again this season.
I didn't watch the game on Prime - soon as I start to watch a broadcast we concede so I thought I'd wait, but I did tune in to the goals at FT on Amazon and thought WTF these aren't the usual snidey shites yer often hear. Very positive and it was the quality anywhere on the pitch from anyone, no matter what the colour of the shirt that stood out for them. I've had a few 'surverys' from Amazon asking what I thought about their football coverage and made a clear point of asking for audio options, but definitely someone who wasn't bringing ex-club baggage with them that would be interspersed at every opportunity. I'm not suggesting that my points have been taken to the Amazon bosom but the little bit I heard on our three goals was quite delightful and wholly refreshing.
