Audio commentary of tonight’s Europa League play-off first leg tie against Timisoara will be broadcast live on the Club’s official website’s Match Day Centre.
Manchester City have been successful in striking a last minute deal to stream the commentary of the game.
Up to this point, City fans who are not at the Dan Paltinisanu Stadium would have had no way of listening to the game, as it is not being broadcast by any non Romanian radio or television outlet. Broadcast rights for this particular game are the property of Timisoara, and no UK broadcaster was able to reach an agreement with the Romanian Club.
Tonight’s commentary, which will be provided by BBC Radio Manchester’s Ian Cheeseman, will also be available on BBC Manchester 95.1FM and DAB digital radio.
Sarah Collins, Sport Editor at BBC Radio Manchester, said: “We are delighted we can bring the game live to Manchester City fans. It looked as though this wouldn’t be possible, even though Ian Cheeseman is out in Romania to cover the game for us.
“I would like to thank Manchester City, in particular Garry Cook, for their efforts in making this possible. The Club clearly cared that its fans could hear the team’s progress in Timisoara, and as their local BBC outlet, we would like to wish the team well in the tie.”
Manchester City would also like to thank Key 103FM, who are our official broadcast partner, for their permission to stream the game on our website.
Coverage of the game from the Dan Paltinisanu Stadium will begin from 7pm on 95.1FM and on the Club’s website <a class="postlink" href="http://www.mcfc.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.mcfc.co.uk</a>
