I know it's all just numbers, but after 20 games played, I found this very interesting.

Most notably, Arsenal being -3 comparatively was hard to get my head around for the same fixtures they've played to date.

It certainly paints a great picture for us, though I expect it to be much closer than this.

Points Comparison
City +10
Liverpool +6
Chelsea +3
Spurs +1
Everton +1
Arsenal -3
United -13 (David Moyes is a football genius)

Predicted League based on Points Comparison
City 88
Chelsea 78
United 76
Spurs 73
-----------------
Arsenal 70
Liverpool 67
Everton 64

How are you calculating the second bit?
I think it means that if in the second half of the season, we match the results we got in last year's corresponding games, that will be our point total.

I've just calculated from last season and it should be 42 points. However, we're much more exciting this year, the league is arguably harder, the players seem happier and we're still in all the competitions. This is with a new manager, new playing style, numerous injuries and a few shortages in key positions. Plus, certain performances and mistakes (Aston Villa, Hart at Chelsea) have cost us points that don't reflect how well we've done. 'm very excited to see how we do this season and next.

Interesting discussion, though the points totals obviously can't show how much more FUN we are to watch this season. I'm as excited as a kid on Christmas Eve before every game.

This just shows what teams would finish on if they had the same results as last season for the remaining 18 games.

Example. We finished on 78, we've taken +10 on last season so far, so we're predicted 88.

If anything it helps to dispell this 'City have tougher fixtures left' rubbish, when last season we performed best in the remaining fixtures.

Whilst it's true that City have more away fixtures left against the sides near the top we are also a better side now than we were at the beginning of the season. It follows that we are much more likely to beat these teams away from home in the second half of the season than if we had already played them.

This will be yet another thing for Mourinho, Wenger, Rodgers and Moyes to whinge about. (yes I know that one team isn't up there with the rest but the whingeing will be there all the same).

if we win our last nine home games, we'll be at 71 points. win 5 of the remaining 9 away games and we're on 86 points. that should do it comfortably IMO

You're absolutely correct; at the moment, it IS all just numbers. Way too many variables (injuries or suspensions or loss of form to key players, clubs going on fantastic/abysmal runs) to even begin to predict what might happen.

Hope you're right though!
