Compulsory Voting: Yes or No?

The reason lots of people don’t vote is because they feel the options are all the same and can’t be bothered.
The parties have to appeal to these people and at the moment labour can’t and the Tory’s don’t want to.
Forcing people to vote is pointless

Turn out in Trafford for the local elections was truly appalling.

These are the people who spent your council tax, they should be held accountable.

On a completely different matter, the people of Bristol have voted to get rid of their elected mayor position. Can we have a similar referendum in Greater Manchester to get rid of ours?

From it's inception, our "education" has been instrumental in brainwashing kids in how to accept their role in society as bondservers. The punitive rise in university fees is certain to make sure this will continue, by ensuring only an unrepresentative small section of society are involved in education. Pure and simple tory intent. The fact we still have a tory party proves how effective it is. FFS

The problem is not compulsory voting; the problem is apathy. There is a complete lack of interest in politics. Consequently nobody bothers to read or find out what parties policies are. There is a popular belief that 'they are all the same' and you only have to read this forum to see that. They are not 'all the same'; this is just a lazy way of saying 'I can't be arsed finding out'. I am not sure how you reverse this; perhaps we start in schools? Electing student councils? We need to start somewhere. Keep doing the same thing don't be surprised if you get the same outcome.
