Anyone any advice / recommendations about getting a conservatory; could do without dealing with the usual double glazing salesmen etc.

The only advice I can give is use your friends/families recommendations and get several quotes.
On my side of the road five out of six of us have had them built and all by different companies. None of us were completely satisfied.

Cheers, had the windows done a couple of years back and it was a right pain having the reps in etc. Could do with bypassing that bit!!

Got a mate of mine to do the founds and the base, and then just called in a firm to do the doors and the glazing.Saved quite a bit of cash doing it that way.If you know a decent builde,r then get him to do the foundation and the brickwork.

typical, you're all bloody quick to criticise others, but as far as i'm concerned

people in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones

screech of taxi tyres.....

theres not much give with the ring beam, and if the founds are out, its fucked

Excellent, cheers.

Decide what kind you want Wood or UPVC

White, Green or Brown or any other colour want.

Get the best base you can afford.

If you are going to use it in winter, think about heating. Can be very costly.
