Cook promises 'surprises' at City Dec 17 2008

Call me a cynic , but I suspect that all this gushing from Cook is to try and raise supporters' morale after a cr@p run of results.

It won't be the first time that the club's spin machine gas been used on us.

I hope to be proved wrong, but I am concerned about our current atttractiveness to potential Januaryu transfer targets.

The KAKA story is one that doesn't seen to wanna go away, he's not playin in the Champions League, so why not? Italian clubs are skint they couldn't match our offer for Goofydinho n he's bin there a few years so why not? Its more than just a rumour, when Chelski were sniffin round him he came out and stated he didn't wanna play in England n was happy in Milan now all of a sudden he'd love to play in England!! Make it happen n Sergio Aguero as well, a good solid left back and a real quality creative midfielder that would have all the doubters eatin their words

Reads to me as 'don't get your hopes up Blues'.

He's basically saying we will be signing superstars 'over the next few years', we won't be paying over the odds for players and we want 'value for money'.

To me that means Hughes playing it safe with players he knows. RSC, maybe Bellamy, Pedersen might be a good shout. In short we are turning into Blackburn!

Or am I just an old cynic?

He revealed that the model for future sides would be a balance of Galacticos, young international players and Platt Lane produce with the emphasis on character as well as talent.

Fucking Hell!

It's the "Zidanes and Pavons" policy revisited

Makes me laugh all the people that say "no chance in hell" regarding Kaka joining City.

How the fuck would you know? Seems to really piss some people off when some blues get optimistic and hopeful.

None of us know, we're fans, not involved in the deal or what is happening behind the scenes, we all know fuck all, we just have to hope. So instead of jumping on every back that thinks it could happen, how about you go and get a hobby.

I tend to agree with that

who`d have thought we`d sign robinho!

Superstars + up & coming internationals + academy, and all with character & talent.

With the money to make it happen.

Still the complaints. It's doing my head in.

City fan: "Why don't they do x or have plan y?"
City: "We are going to do x and we have plan y."
City fan: "They're just telling us what we want to hear."

City fan: "Why won't Garry Cook say anything, he's silent."
Cook: "Plan this, doing that, going about things the right way, future, problems, solutions etc."
City fan: "Don't believe a word of it ffs, City need a shelf-stacker like me to run things, they just say what we want to hear. Better if he kept his mouth shut. What does he know about anything anyway. Me, I'm a fecking expert in everything under the sun me, that's why I rotate baked beans at Aldi."

I would really love to think that Kaka would join us.

My doubts are around the fact that we (IMO) are highly unlikely to qualify for UEFA next year... never mind Champions League.

These players are wealthy enough to have the luxury of choosing success over cash and I'm afraid that is why we will struggle to bring any more "world class" supertars to the club.

TBH I doubt Robinho would have joined us had we been in the mess we are in now. These guys do have standards you know.

As much as I would love Kaka at City, I think the last thing our team needs at the moment is another Brazilian.

Dressing room cliques are dangerous things !

I tend to agree.

He talks about surprises and then tries to manage expectations. Very strange.
