Cook promises 'surprises' at City Dec 17 2008

I have a funny feeling that the 'surprise' is going to be that the richest team in the world cannot
get any quality players in during this transfer window!

Wouldn't surprise me, thats all. I hope it's not, but it really wouldn't!

Ah - but our money means we can buy a better class of clique these days instead of relying on home grown xenophobic ones.

What... like the Welsh mafia... that scare the kids and remove any senior players that dont doth their caps...?

And quite right too. Players need to know their place.

However I was actually thinking of our former Scouse racist!

who`d have thought we`d sign robinho!

Do you think he'd join now? I mean had Robinho stayed at Real until now, would he join in the January window now we are 17th in the League and with the likely departure of Jo and Elano? I very much doubt it.

It's going to be very hard to get big names here I think, unless and until we start to show some signs of improvement.

The list is almost endless but Cook insists that despite the vast wealth of the owners, manager Mark Hughes does not have a bottomless budget.

A very subtle but definite change of message methinks.

i think it's dangerous to read too much into these tea leaves either way.

i suspect the change of message is more motivated by absurd rumors like the 120MM plus alleged bid for Casillas. Cook is playing all this rather carefully; he could be effective as a politician--he manages to hint at a lot, but ambiguously, so that he can't be pinned down on anything.

i think he is just being canny, can you imagine the response from clubs if they think we have a bottomless pit of money, the price will just be hiked up.

paying 20 mil for diarra would be crazy, good player though he is we can find better.

dont forget he has had 3 clubs in 2 years, if he is so good why would clubs let him go.

Call me a cynic , but I suspect that all this gushing from Cook is to try and raise supporters' morale after a cr@p run of results.

It won't be the first time that the club's spin machine gas been used on us.

I hope to be proved wrong, but I am concerned about our current atttractiveness to potential Januaryu transfer targets.
I like the looks of that robinho fella do you know him.
