Copenhagen!

Man City website

Following on from today's UEFA Cup draw, the Club wish to make fans aware of a possible change to the proposed fixture dates for the UEFA Cup tie against FC Copenhagen.

Difficulties have arisen in confirming the fixture for two significant reasons. Firstly, the pitch at FC Copenhagen's Parken Stadium is being re-laid on Monday 16th February due to a previously booked event at the ground which cannot be moved. This means that only the second of the two away leg dates (Thursday 19th February) would be suitable for competitive football.

In addition to this, City's fixture at Anfield on Saturday 21st February, only two days after the proposed away UEFA leg, cannot move to the Sunday because Liverpool will travel to Spain for their UEFA Champions League fixture with Real Madrid, due to take place on Tuesday 24th February. There are no other suitable dates in terms of rescheduling this particular fixture.

Discussions are ongoing between FC Copenhagen and Manchester City FC, with consideration being given to switching the order of the away and home legs.

The Club strongly advises fans not to make any travel arrangements until dates and venues are confirmed. An announcement, finalising details for these UEFA Cup fixtures is expected to be made on Monday.

Hello from Copenhagen

Dropped by and decided to give you some information on Copenhagen as city and team. Let’s start out with the city.

Copenhagen airport is located roughly 10 km outside of the city centre, and there’s two different trains that can take you to both Copenhagen Central Station and Nørreport Station. Copenhagen is a great city to go drinking in. You’ll find that the beers are priced at about 4 or 5 pounds. Some places you’ll find them cheaper. There are a lot of british pubs around Copenhagn with most of them located in the city centre around the shopping street “Strøget” and the city hall of Copenhagen. However this is also where you’ll find the most expensive beer. There’s also plenty bars on both Vesterbro and Nørrebro.

To save money you can buy beer in the supermarkets. Here the prices will be a lot lower. A case with 30 beers will cost you about 15-20£. There’s a broad culture for beer in Denmark, and you can select between many different brands of beer in the supermarket. And they are all at the same alcohol percentage as the ones you buy in the pub :-)

The Parken stadium is located in the borough of Østerbro. It’s possible to access the stadium via bus, but you’d probably want to take the short walk from the city centre or wherever you decide to stay as the bus is usually packed at match days. It’s only a 10-15 minute walk from Østerport station. My guess is that the game will be sold out, and you won’t get more than the 5 percent of the seats you are entitled to.

The team FC Copenhagen is, by Nordic standards, filled with a lot of quality players. None of them however would be anywhere near the City team. Our profiles are at the moment the following:

01: Jesper Christiansen – Danish national team goalkeeper. Former Glasgow Rangers and Wolfsburg player.
02: Zdenek Pospech – Czech international right back. Quite good offensive and well paced. Isn’t the best in defence though.
10: Jesper Grønkjær – Former Chelsea and Birmingham winger. Injured in most of 2008. Hopefully he’ll return for 2009. Definitely our best player.
11: Cesar Santin – Brazilian newcomer. Bought this summer as a wing but is currently used in the attack. Has very quick feet and can open up any defence. Will be the one your defenders will have to look out for.
24: Libor Sionko – Czech international and former Rangers wing. Did really good during the European championship but failed to regain a place in the first team this fall. If in good shape he’ll cause problems for most defences.

Even though we have our key placers located in the offense, the defensive record is quite good as well. We’ve conceded only 12 goals in 17 matches in the league. We field a 4-4-2 formation with emphasis on quick attacks and possession play.

just spoke to my sister match will be switched.she works for fc copenhagen
ticket allocation should be about 1650-2100 max.

I always thought playing the home leg 2nd was an advantage.

Why switch.

FCC should find another stadium for the first leg.

Is that definate. Only get 24 hours to cancel with easyjet and is 20 quid per person per flight to change flight details. Will have to cancel mine this morning. Nightmare. Will be waiting next time ;)

To both the Copenhagan fans, thanks for your info. Good luck for the season.

true blue - I'm on same flight

its £40 to cancel and £40 to switch (as long as new flights are no more) - so it may be worth hanging on and switching when we know
