Less than 1 in 10 NHS hospital beds are now occupied by Covid patients

Yes, the media make very little noise about the hospital numbers and nobody even asks why the Gov UK data they put out and the media all copy the next day is by then 2 days minimum old.

You would think they realised how important this figure is.

Last night's data I posted in here fell on a Monday - itself unusual. And there are less than 1000 in England on ventilators and will be in the UK too any day now. There were over 4000 on them seven weeks ago.

Similarly patients have dropped in that period to under 6000 in England and just over 7000 in the UK - from nearly 40,000 seven weeks ago.

When I post this data each evening in here I am surprised not much is ever made of this remarkable drop by the media.

North West now has under 1000 in hospital with Covid for first time in months. And may well go sub 100 on ventilators this week. It is just 115 now.

England hospital deaths 101 - with 26 from NW - so big catch up in the region as usual.

This is one of the two biggest days of the week with Wednesdays because of the catch up data.

Last week it was 164 and 35 from NW btw. So that is a large week to week fall again. Of around 40%.

Oh and again 15 of them today were weeks old and so were not even in February or March.

Scotland data:

7 deaths - was 19 last week

597 cases - was 466 last week

3.8% positivity - was 3.3% last week

440 patients - down 7 on yesterday - was 614 last week

42 ventilated - up 2 on yesterday - was 50 last week


There are a few warning signs. The hospital numbers have slowed and ventilators ticked up over past few days. Needs watching, Hopefully just a blip.

Scotland vaccinations update:

1, 943, 507 first doses - 34, 517 today - was 20, 294 yesterday & 14, 716 last week

170, 892 second doses - 8947 today - was 1907 yesterday & 4954 last week

Big increase in Scotland today as was promised.

1, 139, 866 first doses given - 16, 935 today - was 9433 yesterday & 14, 718 last week

272, 983 second doses given - 8728 today - was 6857 yesterday & 8291 last week

1 death - was 2 last week

176 cases - was 240 last week

9.6% positivity - was 13.3% last week

7 day rolling cases total 1208 - was 1270 yesterday and 1269 last week

13 Care Home Outbreaks - was 14 yesterday and 18 last week.

176 patients - was 182 yesterday and 222 last week

14 ventilated - was 16 yesterday and 22 last week


Good numbers in N Ireland again.
