The Johnson & Johnson story is alarming. Can't afford fuck-ups like that because, one for expediency and two what if they fuck up another batch and it slips through and harms people?

Naivety of reporters honestly. Yes it's alarming but it's not a quality control issue as some news are reporting (speculating), it's a training and competency issue. Quality control is what's flagged the issue and is what's in place to prevent such a fuck up entering humans.
No way such a batch would pass release testing. A deviation -> root cause analysis and investigation would be triggered to find the problem. If it's got as far as the press then it's already been investigated and determined where the issue lies which means it was never anywhere near humans.

Still a shocking and very basic error. These things happen in drug development and it's why we set such rigorous safety nets along the way. Wouldn't like to be the operator who caused that.

It's disappointing to hear about the J&J struggles and that probably reflects the challenges of producing Covid vaccines. I hope J&J resolve the problems soon.

IMHO. if that was AZ the Americans would be demonising the company. Many posters on here are quick to slaughter to EU Countries but some don't say boo to a goose when it comes to the States.
