Enjoy the next year or so window licking at pubs and restaurants from the outside and forget about travel because Vaccine passports will become even more of a thing, fair play if you want to die on your anti vax hill though.
I can add another issue to that list, as an employer would you want to employ non vaccinated people in a company. I dont, so i will be asking potential interviewees their stance, non vaccinated and their CV is in the bin from now on.

My other half has done two volunteering stints at two sites in the past two days. She said that they have been really busy with people at one site queueing down the road. She has been volunteering for a couple of months now and said these last two times were the busiest sessions so far.

Going to be some very high numbers soon, I tested positive yesterday I'm unjabbed but the only symptom I have is loss of taste and smell, 4 more people who I watched the match with on Sunday in the pub who were all jabbed have also tested positive and there all bed bound and really unwell all young as well I'm guessing there will be alot more cases from that pub.
I tested myself Fri sat and sun last week leading up to the final and it was negative each day so looks like someone has spread it in the pub, Also there was bar service in the pub and no social distancing so I don't think that'd of helped so once all restrictions end they will soon be back.

Hope you all feel better soon mate. On the flip side, I've had the Moderna vaccine and my partner had Pfizer (both double jabbed), and so far we've managed to avoid contracting the virus from our son (fingers crossed). Not much consolation to you admittedly, but hopefully a sign that the vaccines can help reduce transmission.
Looks like I spoke too soon. My partner has now tested positive, and I'm guessing it's only a matter of time before me and my daughter do too.

I am starting to wonder how this Winter will go.

Up to now we have been reasonably aiming for vaccinating all who want to be jabbed, then an annual booster and life back to normal. But if we are in the mess we are now as one of the most vaccinated nations on Earth in Summer and variants either cannot or will not be stopped from coming in and it appears you can catch this thing multiple times it is hard to see an end game.

We may have to face permanent changes and mass cases and deaths in the waves up to the arrival of the Zeta variant and beyond as they come one by one for years. Not a thought anyone wants to entertain.

It is pretty obvious we are only opening up now because getting this wave over in what is left of the Summer is the best of two bad options - the other being delaying it into months when the NHS would struggle with a big wave atop everything else it has in Winter,

What I think we need to know is where is the end game with this virus? We seem to be aware it is not just going away like the Spanish Flu burnt out after 2 years.

How do we bring society back to a place that lives with a permanent pandemic? Or is there some other option we are buying time to move towards?
What we need is hope of the real end in sight
