WALES DATA

0 deaths - was 0 last week

861 cases - was 701 last week

5.5% positivity - was 3.9% last week

67 patients - was 59 last week

10 ventilated - was 7 last week

Can I ask how we know that all these positive cases are the new Delta variant? I’m assuming most people who are testing positive are doing so on the PCR kits and I didn’t think it told you what variant it was. Genuine question btw.
They do a mass sample test in detail every week and factor up from that to the population. I assume using a statistically credible number of fully tested samples for the data to have good confidence levels

As I recall we are around 99% now Delta. It has all but obliterated the rest. Possibly well enough no other variant will be better.

Killing its host is not really an evolutionary step forward for a virus and hard to see what could be more infective than Delta as it has gone from zero to everything in 3 months.

We can hope.

Worrying at the moment. I know of quite a few double jabbed people getting it, one of which is under 40 and ended up hospitalised by it.
I hope they get better quickly.

But please bear in mind - and this applies to a number of people who've posted similar things in this thread - that "my mrs/mate/etc has been double jabbed and still got ill" *DOES NOT MEAN* the vaccines don't work. What it means is they'd be in intensive care, or even dead, without them.

Nothing personal and I genuinely really hope your pal makes a swift and full recovery.

I'm 34 and got my second jab tomorrow...

I wonder how influential the Euro crowds in England have been?

All messaging around the pandemic went totally out of the window once England started doing well - even the government seemed to say fuck it and let in a full Wembley by the final?

Hopefully the end will mean the end to such large crowds, (as in the 10s of thousands all in the street) and more sensible behaviour?

What I am saying is, can the vaccines take us out of the current situation? What is the end game here if certain variants can penetrate into the double jabbed population? What does the medium-term future look like?

Starting to wonder what City will do in August, figures are going to rise undoubtedly, could a club perhaps City take a view that is not safe? I'm double jabbed and after a long think didn't defer.
CTID could become a reality for some unfortunately.

I'm assuming the FA/Prem League couldn't sanction us if we did cut/play behind closed doors?

Will we heck. If fans are allowed they will be there. Everyone seems to be massively negative on here at the moment.

Does anyone know if the number of weekly deaths are in like with what they would be on a normal year? The reason I ask is the deaths has gone up slightly, but that is to be expected as the number of people who have covid is going up a lot. The deaths are with covid renember and not because of it. Could it just be that as the number infected amongst the population grows, the number of deaths with it will also grow at the same ratio, but the total number of actual deaths stays the same?

It's all a bit bleak at the moment.

I too can't see an endgame to all this shit at the moment. The euphoria of the original vaccines although reducing deaths aren't stopping the spread or new variants appearing which is going to carry on until we can stop the spread worldwide.

Although generally a miserable fucker I'm only normally a moaner about minor miscellaneous stuff but this now seems like that light at the end of the tunnel is getting further away again.
Must admit I have started to feel this way myself. Not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch, but am feeling that there is more about this than we know or are being told as the goalposts keep moving.
