France is on track to overtake us in people with at least one dose of vaccine in a week or two, and is currently jabbing at more than double the rate we are.

Don't forget this one is measuring first doses and not the amount fully vaccinated which is perhaps more important. First doses are dropping off quickly here and clearly we are hitting a hesitancy issue.

60% of people under 40 have had their first dose however the rate of change is flatlining so less people are coming to get vaccinated. We need that number to jump beyond 80% really.

The problem is very regional as well and for some reason is worse in London, 15% less are vaccinated there than anywhere else.

I just don't know why the government isn't investing in a massive vaccine education campaign directed at young people.

But a hard stop at 85% if French polls are correct.

Interestingly the ONS says vaccine hesitancy in the UK has fallen to around 5%
If that is the case one has to wonder why so many are not getting jabbed?
More than enough jabs to go round.

U.K. at 69% and France at 65%, both doing well but obviously the closer you get to 70-80%, the harder it is to get those scared little fruits to take the vaccine.

And that’s what they are, scared little fruits. Look at this cûnt in the US.

I assume by 69% you mean of all UK citizens - including all children too - who are not likely to be vaccinated ever - so really not the number we should count.

I post the up to date UK numbers (of all currently able to ever have the vaccination even if they want it) here every evening and as of yesterday these are:-

Percentage of adult UK population as eligible

88.9% have had first doses - 37, 990 given yesterday (England 88.8%, N Ireland 84.7%, Scotland 90.7%, Wales 90.7%)

74.5% have had second doses - 213, 583 yesterday (England 74.0%, N Ireland 74.6%, Scotland 74.9%, Wales 83.1%)

I think these are the numbers to watch. Not least as they are published every day here. So easy to track.

As you say it clearly is getting harder and harder now we are at these sort of levels and it is harder to persuade the younger age groups of the balance of need.

More concerning I think are the very big differences in UK nations versus one another that data above shows.

And when you then factor in that NOBODY in GM - not even Stockport - easily the most vaccinated of the ten boroughs - is even up to the average - that there is a wide disparity of who has and has not had the vaccine around the UK. And it is having an impact on cases and waves.

I think a lot of it is 20-odd year olds on the whole aren't 'against' vaccines and fully intend to get round to having it...they just can't be arsed / are disorganised and other things in life are taking priority - like going out and getting twatted in pubs/clubs etc

I'm only in my early 30s but 10 years ago I'd probably be the same tbh.

WALES DATA

DOUBLE DAY DATA TODAY RECALL - SAT & SUN - AS ALWAYS ON MONDAYS IN WALES

3 deaths - was 1 last week

1364 cases - was 1106 last week - still edging up here

5.3% positivity - waa 4.6% last week - this too.

130 patients (Friday) - was 140 last week

19 ventilated icu (Friday) - was 19 last week

ZOE APP DATA

Sadly starting to show a change in direction to UP. As the real data is doing.

Predicted cases UP for second successive day after 10 days of falls:-

ON 43 177 - UP FROM 42 407 & 42 138 PAST TWO DAYS

Ongoing symptomatic cases still falling - BUT - these will be behind the daily cases I suspect and the rate of fall each day is slowing.

ON 680 244 - DOWN FROM 690 506 - fall of 10 262

Yesterday was down 13, 804 and day before down 18 159

Unless the rise in cases reverses again this number will start rising too in a week or so.

ZOE APP REGIONS:

Yorkshire still top - UP TO 740 / 1042 from 717 / 1014

Northern Ireland 2nd - UP TO 408 / 1502 from 393 / 1462

London next - UP TO 743 / 946 from 702 / 900

North East - UP TO 631 / 1066 from 598 / 1020

THESE ARE THE TOP RED WATCH ZONES - THE NEXT GROUP ARE IN THE LOWER WATCH ZONE

Headed by

North West - DOWN TO 579 / 816 from 587 / 824

THE ONLY ONE OF THE TOP 5 FALLING BUT ONLY JUST

The only two regions in the lowest watch zone are:-

WALES - DOWN TO 327 / 616 from 335 / 626

And the best - FOR NOW - but still rising as it has been for a few days after weeks of falls.

SCOTLAND UP TO 200 / 408 from 174 / 363

A little worrying this Scotland trajectory as Ayrshire has been warning about in his posts here for a few days now.

ZOE APP NORTH WEST DATA

GREATER MANCHESTER

BOLTON UP BIG TO 12 398 FROM 4156 - big jump up matching real life case data where it has lost top spot in past few days to Wigan and seen its Pop Score & cases rise in recent days.

BURY INCHES DOWN TO 19 346 FROM 19, 487 - Now the top in GM and in real data top of the GM scores too has climbed to the highest Pop Score from nowhere in past week.

MANCHESTER UP TO 15 675 FROM 15, 443- flattened off here but still high

OLDHAM DOWN TO 5358 FROM 6183 - been falling in recent days and now best in GM

ROCHDALE DOWN TO 18 898 FROM 20, 523 - second most in GM now. Real cases were up yesterday too

SALFORD DOWN TO 14 172 FROM 16, 418 - scoring high but recent signs of falling in case data.

STOCKPORT UP TO 9828 FROM 8236 - after recent fall rising again and matching its daily cases in that too

TAMESIDE DOWN TO 9533 FROM 9931 - neighbour borough with Stockport and they often mirror one another in numbers

TRAFFORD UP TO 12 622 FROM 11, 260 - been around 12/14K for a while and is high in real data too but this is its lowest in some time

WIGAN DOWN TO 8724 FROM 11, 599 - fallen from 17 K a week ago and has best POP score in GM ahead of Bolton - so fits Zoe here too.

Others:

CHESHIRE EAST -like Tameside often tracks neighbour Stockport but doing better than them right now and has fallen to 5648 FROM 7657. Lowest score in some time here.

LIVERPOOL - flattened around almost exactly the same place as Manchester 14/15K - DOWN TO 14 498 FROM 15,066 today

WIRRAL - is actually up but fallen today to 20 397 FROM 21, 447 and one of the highest in the NW now. Wirral was where the cruise ship patients were taken in Feb 2020 in the very early days of the pandemic,
