SCOTLAND DATA

6.7% positivity - was 6.5% last week - edging up here still

356 patients - down 4 on yesterday - was 407 last week - the fall still there bit slowing

42 ventilated icu - up 2 on yesterday - last week 60

NORTHERN IRELAND DATA

8 deaths - was 5 last week

1031 cases - was 872 last week

9.2% positivity - was 9.6% last week - that at least is hopeful

8974 weekly cases total - was 8299 Friday & 8525 last week

112 CARE HOME OUTBREAKS - WAS 106 Friday & 92 last week

245 Patients - was 232 Friday & 242 last week

34 ventilated - was 27 Friday & 23 last week

THE SITUATION IN NORTHERN IRELAND COMING TO A HEAD NOW I FEAR. AS IT WAS LAST INTO THE DELTA WAVE AND SO LIKELY LAST OUT. HOPE THIS IS THE PEAK.

AND WHY THE DISPARITY IN THE VACCINATION NUMBERS I WAS POINTING UP ABOVE REALLY MATTERS. THAT WAS MY POINT THERE.

N IRELAND HAD THE WORST UK NUMBERS THERE AND NOW HERE WITH FAST ESCALATING CARE HOME OUTBREAKS AND VENTILATED PATIENT NUMBERS

THE VACCINATION NUMBERS HAVE LEAD TO THIS UNFOLDING TRAGEDY SEEMINGLY STILL UNNOTICED BY THE MEDIA

One person dying from COVID every two minutes in Iran
Tragic. I suspect a lot of unreported things like this occurring in parts of the world rarely reported.

When this is over the death toll will be pretty awful.

Just hopes it shocks us into creating a truly global pandemic reaction and response set up. Because the whole planet is our next door neighbour now unlike the Spanish Flu a century ago. So it is as much in our interests as the obvious humanitarian need.

ENGLAND HOSPITAL DEATHS OVER THE WEEKEND

SATURDAY 53 with 6 from the NW :- Was 36 with 9 NW week before & 41 with 14 week before that.

SUNDAY 12 with 6 from the NW: - Was 21 with 11 NW week before & 12 with 3 week before that.

TODAY 15 with 2 from the NW: - Was 7 with 5 NW week before & 5 with 1 week before that.

SO NUMBERS EDGING UP RATHER THAN ESCALATING AND NW NUMBERS CLEARLY FALLING

EXPECT CATCH UPS FROM OTHER REGIONS IN COMING DAYS AS THESE SEEM LOW.

Across weekend:-

80 deaths with 14 from NW V last week 64 deaths with 25 from NW and week before 58 with 18 from NW week before that.

NW deaths clearly down as proportion of England as other regions tick up modestly.

Could have been a lot worse and only isn't because of the vaccines.
