GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Bury 595, Rochdale 738 , Oldham 801, Bolton 845, Trafford 853 , Salford 941, Tameside 1031, Stockport 1093, Wigan 1229, Manchester 1678

At the right end of the table Bury now well clear.

At the wrong end Wigan climbed nearer to Manchester as they both went in opposite directions and Stockport pulled away too with a good weekly fall.

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

BOLTON 294 // 240 // UP 54 WAS 223 (up 71)

MANCHESTER 302 // 285 //UP 17 WAS 336 (down 34)

BURY 312 // 307 // UP 5 WAS 304 (up 8)

ROCHDALE 330 // 281 // UP 49 WAS 281 (up 49)

OLDHAM 337 // 228 // UP 109 WAS 328 (up 9)

SALFORD 358 // 332 // UP 26 WAS 386 (down 28)

TRAFFORD 359 // 330 // UP 29 WAS 338 (up 21)

STOCKPORT 372 // 384 // DOWN 12 WAS 334 (up 38)

WIGAN 372 // 289 // UP 83 WAS 269 (up 103)

TAMESIDE 454 // 433 // UP 21 WAS 315 (Up 139)

Bolton still alone in the 200s - just.

Manchester's good run of cases means it is on course to overtake Bolton for top spot.

Tameside is clearly in most trouble BUT it has started falling in past days for the first time in some while.

Stockport fell too and moves up a place and is now the only GM borough going DOWN week to week.

Numbers are fairly flat and the spread from best to worst is narrowing daily. Which s a good sign.

Hospitals in Cornwall suspend surgeries amid 'high' COVID admissions

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has temporarily suspended routine and urgent surgeries in its "main hospitals" in order to cope with COVID demand.

Its medical director Dr Allister Grant said the NHS in Cornwall remains under "continued pressure" as COVID admissions remain high.

He confirmed there are more than 40 people in the Trust's three hospitals with COVID currently, and nearly 50 contacts isolating at home.

Mr Grant said: "Our staff are working flexibly and extraordinarily hard to help us care safely for the higher numbers of people in hospital with COVID.

40 people in 3 hospitals and they cancel urgent surgery seems strange decision?
