SCOTLAND DATA

THIS IS A BIT GOOD AND BAD BUT SOME IS VERY GOOD

32 deaths - was 16 last week - obviously a big jump here not good

2762 cases - was 2627 last week - up but not by a lot

8.2% positivity - was 7.9% last week - as above

851 patients - down 57 on yesterday - was 957 last week

45 ventilated icu - down 5 on yesterday - was 64 last week

So at least the hospital numbers are much better - though 32 deaths may have played a part, sadly.

It doesn’t need to mutate though as, although the vaccines don’t completely stop it transmitting, they are undoubtedly assisting with not ‘killing the host’, which is a win-win for the virus and us.
well I guess we're reaching the same conclusion, if Delta is happy as it is (not that it has a conscious say but you get the point) and doesn't mutate then it's a lot better for us than if it did, or another variant was able to take hold and cause us even more trouble.

So the four nations deaths with out of hospital England to come are:- 120 - WITH 7 IN NORTH WEST (LOWEST NW SHARE OF UK IN SOME TIME)

Last week at this stage the number was 111 (though about 10 of those deaths in Wales were from the double day numbers last week so it was really nearer 100). However, 111 is the official count, of course.

On all settings that later became 150 as England added 39 - to Total 109 - to the 70 in hospital.

THE OUT OF HOSPITAL ENGLAND NUMBERS HAVE BEEN GOING UP NOTICEABLY WHICH IS WHY I HAVE MY CONCERNS OVER THE UNREPORTED CARE HOME SITUATION GIVEN WHAT WE KNOW HAPPENED IN NORTHERN IRELAND.

The three nation cases with England to add total today:- 7241

Hard to compare with last week as the total was officially 5705 added to there from Welsh data which was messed up last weekend by a data issue that lasted a day or two.

The two nation (without Wales) number today is 4111 V 3903 last week. And with Wales 7241 V 9608

Either way England last Friday added 32, 157 to create a UK total of 41, 765

Yesterday England had 38, 488 cases - which was the HIGHEST total in England since 21 July.

So we could well be looking at 45K or above again today in the UK.

I admire your tendency to put a positive slant on the daily figures but surely in this case whilst there is some very good news there is also some very bad news- the deaths and the upward trend?

Interesting to see how things will pan out down under now Aus is starting to open up and presumably NZ next.

Both countries have already administered more vaccine doses per capita than the US, and have about the same number of people with at least one dose as we do. Impressive stuff once they got going.

Their death tolls are a tiny fraction of ours, and lest anyone claims an overcrowded island like ours could never achieve this, Japan isn't far behind.

Japan doesn't have anything like the number if Covidiots and anti vaxers that we do.
