THIS IS AN ABSOLUTELY GIGANTIC RISE WEEK TO WEEK FOR SECOND DAY RUNNING OVER 2000 IN AN AREA WHERE HOSPITAL NUMBERS HAVE BEEN SHOOTING UP ALL WEEK TOO.

IT WAS THE NORTH WEST DRIVING THE UK RISES BUT THE SOUTHERN REGIONS ARE NOW THREATENING TO BECOME THE MAIN PROBLEM SOON

EAST MIDLANDS FALLS BY 460 - TO 3438 V 3138 UP 300 IN WEEK

WEST MIDLANDS UP BY 404 - TO 4009 V 3798 UP 211 IN WEEK

NORTH EAST FALLS BY 410 - TO 1756 V 1551 - UP 206 IN WEEK

GM AS A PERCENTAGE OF NORTH WEST CASES

TODAY 33.9% WELL UP ON YESTERDAY WHEN IT WAS 31.2% BUT STILL WELL BELOW GM PAR

AND QUITE A BIT DOWN TOO WEEK TO WEEK FROM WHAT WAS LAST WEEK 36.4%

PRETTY GOOD DAY ON BALANCE IN GREATER MANCHESTER V NORTH WEST

GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1800 - UP 138 FROM YESTERDAY

NORTH WEST DOWN 27 TO 5295 - NORTH WEST FALLS & GM RISES = NOT GOOD DAY

BUT VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1641 - SO UP 159

NORTH WEST RISES BY 788 WEEK TO WEEK.

THE WEEK TO WEEK GM RISE IS WELL UNDER EXPECTATION = BETTER DAY FOR GM IN THE MORE IMPORTANT WEEK TO WEEK MEASURE

STOCKPORT 279 - UP 61 on day & UP 32 wk to wk. As Mystic Zoe predicted Stockport back on the wrong track and top after another bad day. Up week to week will raise its Pop Score up to another new high. Yet Pop Score of 95 was still better than Trafford - though only by 9 points today. But Stockport now 263 clear as best Pop Score in GM. Giving it a week or two to try to get out of this beforeTrafford inevitably clses that gap right down. Trafford is a smaller borough than Stockport hence fewer cases here does not easily mean a better Pop Score unless it is a fair number fewer. And despite the gloom Stockport will tomorrow become the last one standing in 14 K club in GM. For a couple of days! POP SCORE 14, 703

MANCHESTER 256 - UP 30 on day & UP 56 wk to wk. Pop Score up 46. Not a good day in Manchester either. Up even more week to week than Stockport. Yet 46 is good enough to be joint lowest in GM today! POP SCORE 16, 595

TRAFFORD 247 - UP 44 on day & DOWN 29 Wk to wk - More progress though cases well up from yesterday. But the pop score today still rises by 104 - highest in GM again today. So Stockport still gained more v Trafford who will be in the 15 K club tomorrow bar a miracle. Though only two orthree days ahead of Stockport. POP SCORE 14, 966

WIGAN 219 - UP 6 on day & UP 24 wk to wk. Still edging up here too. Pop score up 66. Most in a while. POP SCORE 16, 074

ROCHDALE 173 - UP 15 on day & UP 54 wk to wk. Pop Score up 78. Big score in little borough (sorry!) POP SCORE 16, 306

BOLTON 142 - UP 10 on day & UP 24 wk to wk - Zoe got Bolton's rise correct too. Pop Score up 49. POP SCORE 15, 894

OLDHAM 140 - UP 50 on day & UP 25 Wk to Wk. Pop Score up 59. Lead over Manchester for highest Pop Score across the pandemic back UP by 13 to 395. Will be first borough in GM into the highest band (17K club) as one of the highest scores in the whole UK tomorrow. POP SCORE 16, 990

SALFORD 123 - DOWN 68 on day & UP 8 wk to wk. Good day for Salford. Indeed so good its Pop Score was nearly lowest in GM on 47. Missing out by 1. POP SCORE 16, 656

TAMESIDE 119 - DOWN 30 on day & DOWN 44 wk to wk. Another extremely good day here. Seems to be well over the hump. Pop Score of 46 heren too. Lowest in ages here and low enough to be in a tie with Manchesrer and Salford for lowest in GM today. Very unexpected! POP SCORE 15, 802

BURY 102 - UP 20 on day & DOWN 11 wk to wk. Pop score here up 54 POP SCORE 15, 709

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Bury 653, Bolton 806, Oldham 836, Rochdale 973, Salford 1028, Tameside 1114, Wigan 1358, Manchester 1648, Trafford 1671, Stockport 1706

A lot of changes today as numbers climb but Bury pulling well clear of Bolton with the best numbers in GM. Rochdale close to joinng Salford over the four figure barrier.

Trafford had another big fall and Stockport went up and just like that Stockport back as the worst in GM and higher than it was when Trafford took over last week.

Manchester's gap behind Stockport fell to just 58. And only 23 to Trafford now so it is a three way battle for the least wanted numbers of highest cases in GM which on population Mancheser should have simply by default of having the most people.

The whole table looks a lot less polarised and contracted top to bottom than it did last week. And after being way over 1500 top to bottom a week ago is now barely 1000.

In a strange way that could be worse if the lowest numbers edge up and the biggest ones down then some kind of equilibrium may be achieved.

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

BOLTON 280 // 262 // UP 18 WAS 247 (UP 33)

MANCHESTER 297 // 253 //UP 44 WAS 228 (UP 69)

BURY 343 // 336 // UP 7 WAS 259 (UP 84)

OLDHAM 352 // 338 // UP 14 WAS 291 (UP 61)

SALFORD 391 // 339 // UP 52 WAS 257 (UP 134)

WIGAN 411// 354 // UP 57 WAS 270 (UP 141)

ROCHDALE 435 // 299 // UP 136 WAS 219 (UP 216)

TAMESIDE 484 // 479 UP 5 WAS 326 (UP 158)

STOCKPORT 580 // 560 // UP 20 WAS 345 (UP 235)

TRAFFORD 703 // 786 // DOWN 83 WAS 315 (UP 388)

Trafford FELL again and Stockport went up. Tameside also fell so increased its gap on Stockport to nearly 100. Stockport needs to find a sustained fall soon or it will be back where it was and at its highest ever level.

In fact as everyone has been rising in past week at some point Trafford is now the ONLY GM borogh actually falling week to week! And even Stockport is up a lot less than several other boroughs.

Bolton still top with Manchester the only other sub 300 but very likely not tomorrow as most are going up and Manchester is on track to go into the 300s after several weeks in the 200s

Stockport's gap to Trafford falls again to just 123.

And Tameside fell into the 400s after the best day in GM today surprisingly.

The top to bottom spread falls again to 'just' 423. A week ago it was 574.

well I guess we're reaching the same conclusion, if Delta is happy as it is (not that it has a conscious say but you get the point) and doesn't mutate then it's a lot better for us than if it did, or another variant was able to take hold and cause us even more trouble.
It has to mutate to seriously avoid immunity or be more infectious than Delta (R0=5) to out compete it or both.

Interesting video from Sr John Campbell today.
It looks as though high school cases in 12-18 year olds have fallen over the last week, which suggests we are actually approaching herd immunity in that age group.

It's finally hit my family. A week after an outbreak at school, every child who went in school in our eldests year possessing a negative PCR test allegedly, and one week later my 10 year old has a positive lateral flow test out of nowhere. She tests twice a week, negative on Tuesday, positive on Friday, confirmed by PCR just now.

I've not got it yet but feel it's a matter of time. She's isolating in her room but it's breaking my heart at how lonely she is. Ordered some walkie talkies off Amazon for me and her sister to chat with her for fun, but part of me is thinking sod it, I'm double jabbed and can stay inside for ten days. At least that would give her the whole house to isolate in, but it risks her younger sister getting it who has had bronchial issues as a baby.

Also feels wrong that the rules let us still send the sister to school and me into work.
