Pretty fucking pissed off now - its out of control ( again ) and the bunch of coonts in charge are denying it for the sake of £££££ which will mean lockdown 4 and we won't be invited abroad until after Easter

I think they're gambling on this wave burning itself out in the next few weeks or sooner. It's a big gamble of course but the impression I get is that they know we're now so far gone in terms of the lifting of restrictions that it will be very difficult to get anything close to the compliance we had in Lockdowns 1 & 2 if another lockdown comes in.

This Swedish Measures Wikipedia link sets out the comprehensive restrictions its authorities have taken.

One should never underestimate a people's cultural coolness as well. If you are naturally inclined to social-distance anyway, and prize space, then it'll have some effect on countering a virus' transmission.

There are plenty of reasons for this. Really, it would be a guess as to why they're faring better than 20 countries in Europe right now. I'll give it a go though.

Sweden is the 46th most densely populated country in Europe (out of 49)To put it in perspective, the population density in the UK is 10x higher (which is an obvious aid for transmission of COVID).

Sweden has the 12th best health service out of 38 European countries Better than the UK's NHS.

Sweden has the 12th best vaccination rate in Europe

Sweden isn't an international travel hub (like London, Paris, Istanbul etc). It's busiest airport is the 28th busiest in Europe (behind Manchester, Stanstead, Gatwick & Heathrow).


Without getting into policies and restrictions and so on. I think it's fair to say Sweden is probably the perfect type of country to weather a storm like COVID. You could argue that based on all of the above, they're actually doing worse than they should right now.

but he's already done better than that and shown you a graph that simplifies it. If you want to delve into the data from which that graph was created it's all there at the bottom of the image. Just google the source data?

Have you got any evidence that shows Sweden has had fewer restrictions than the other Nordic countries? Can you provide all of that? Or do you just expect everyone else to do the legwork?
