Do you have to have a PCR test if you have tested postive off the home lateral flow test?

Daughter has just tested positive for covid off the home kit, she will definitely have covid as the rest of the family have had it in the past 2 week.
Can she isolate for 10 days or does she need to go and have the PCR test?

SCOTLAND DATA

MIXED NUMBERS HERE TODAY - SOME MORE THAN OTHERS

19 deaths - was 32 last week - hope this turnaround comes to England in a week or so too

2902 cases - was 2762 last week

8,8% positivity - was 8.2% last week

894 patients - down 23 on yesterday - was 851 last week - So a fall day to day but more up on last week as last Friday numbers fell by more than double today - 57.

60 ventilated - up 2 on yesterday - was 45 last week - THIS IS OBVIOUSLY NOT A GOOD MOVE UPWARD

NORTHERN IRELAND DATA

MIXED BAG HERE TOO

7 deaths - was 4 last week - these now regularly rising.

1355 cases - was 1349 last week - but cases very flat right now at moderately high but not very high levels

8663 WEEKLY cases - was 8582 yesterday & 9052 last week

54 CARE HOME OUTBREAKS - Down 1 on yesterday - Was 65 last week - STILL EDGING DOWN WHICH IS GOOD TO SEE

358 patients - up 1 on yesterday - was 348 last week

24 ventilated - down 1 on yesterday & was 22 last week

A DIFFERENT TAKE ON TODAYS WEEKLY NORTHERN IRELAND CASES - SHOWING MALE/FEMALES TESTING POSITIVE ACROSS THE AGE RANGES OVER THE LAST 7 DAYS BY NUMBERS PER 100,000 PEOPLE - A BIT AKIN TO A POP SCORE.

KEY FACT:- THE ONLY GROUP CATCHING IT LESS THAN THE OVER 80s ARE THE PRE SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN AND NOT BY MUCH

INERESTING THAT THE 65 - 69 AGE RANGE SEEMS TO REGULARLY BE THE LOWEST OF THE OVER 60s - ANY THOUGHTS ON WHY? OPTIMUM VACCINE PROTECTION/LESSER LIKLIHOOD OF UNDERLYING ILLNESS?

180 deaths in UK - up from 145 last week

49, 298 cases today - down 2711 on yesterday but UP 4366 on last week's 44, 932

ENGLAND ONLY

143 deaths - so 13 out of hospital I presume

THAT IS UP FROM JUST 94 LAST FRIDAY

Cases

41, 745 today - down 2618 on yesterday but UP 4054 on last week's 37, 691

For some reason they still are not explaining the issues over yesterdays England deaths that made no sense in comparison with the hospital numbers earlier.

But something IS up because if you try to use the graphs that show the UK death numbers it jumps from 189 on 19 Oct to 143 today and entirely misses anything for 20 & 21 October.

Though 66 is shown on the list form for yesterday - a number way below the total it should have been and not in the graph. As is not the day before it but on the list as the number they announced for that date.

Maybe a sweet spot between a combination of caution, bit too old to have school age kids and lesser underlying illness than the 70+.

NORTH WEST & GREATER MANCHESTER SUMMARY

Not a great day for GM but could have been a lot worse

NORTH WEST UP by 96 on the day to 5089

GM is UP by 49 of that 96 to 1816 - - Around 50% so a little up on par but tiny numbers so no harm

WEEK TO WEEK

NORTH WEST FALLS from 5295 by 206.

Sadly GM actually goes UP week to week by 16 from 1800.

But obviously - whilst that is not good news - the difference between a rise of 16 and the on par fall of about 80 is again not much in stat terms and easily accounted for by the day to day test delays in getting results back.

Oh and by Stockport with its usual one step forward one step back mambo.

Stockport UP day to day and week to week on 285 - highest here in over two weeks. But actually only up 6 week to week - so as above - minimal damage.

But enough to be top scorer ahead of Manchester on 270 - which is also up on the day and up week to week by 14.

So most of the small reverse numbers in GM come from here.

Trafford is up 13 on day to 215 but that is down 32 week to week so they and Stockport are much closer together again with the highest weekly pop scores. One thing Stockport might soon be leadng again.

Wigan one above Trafford on 216 but that is down 3 week to week.

Tameside was actually the biggest culprit on the week to week numbers - UP by 49 to 168.

Nobody else fell week to week by more than Trafford (just modest numbers) or were up by more than Tameside - most rises were fairly small.

Nonetheless with a Pop Score of 96 Stockport easily had the worst and lost 6 points to Trafford who were on 90.

The LOWEST Pop Score today - 42 - was in Salford - down 27 on day to 112 which was also 11 down week to week. And the lowest score in GM Today. Another recnt first for Salford.

Zoe saw Salford's progress correctly today and it was good enough to just stave off until tomorrow its entry into the 17 K club as the second member behind Oldham already resident in there.
