Lead story on the ten o'clock news. Obvious scientists think this could be a real threat.

Expected to be named the Nu variant tomorrow in an emergecy session by world health. The 13th letter in the Greek alphabet. Wonder who came up with that idea!

Be Christmas before we know if it is more deadly or vaccine evasive they say due to the lag cases - hospitalisation - outcome.

Scientists think we should be thanking and helping the countries we are locking down for being quick to alert the world not just locking them out.

Vaccination rates in South Africa are pretty good they add so we should see how they hold up.

Still lots of unknowns but Looks like it’s rapidly overtaking Delta in South Africa. She emphasised there are not many samples in the grand scheme of things tho.

SA and 5 other African countries added to red list.

Id take everything she says with a pinch of salt. Has consistently called for lockdowns and restrictions, she’s pretty much been wrong for the past 10 months. Saying that, she may get 1 right at some point.

In this tweet shes reporting what the South African health ministry has been saying today.

the speed countries are blocking travel and it getting a Greek alphabet name almost instantly says a lot. The WHO are usually really slow with this stuff.

all in all we don’t know much yet but what is known is concerning so will be watched a lot.
