If you've not been vaxxed, please, do it today. Right now.

If you're eligible for a booster, book it now.

If your kids are eligible and unvaxxed, get them done too.

Get stocked up on LFTs. Use one before doing anything at all high risk (like going to a crowded football stadium...) even if you're vaxxed. Mask up. Look after one another.

It's not yet certain, but more and more likely we're in for a rough time ahead.

Out of interest, what did they do to find out which variant they tested positive for? I know a few people who tested positive and are frustrated at the lack of transparency over which variant they had.
Just took pcr test as far as I know, apparently they can check via that what you’ve got

England hospital summary today:

Patients are down today by 42 to 6088. Last Friday they fell by 64.

They are up week to week from 5851 by 237.

Regionally London is struggling the most - up 30 patients to 1193 today and going over 200 on ventilators for the first time in a good while. Not far short of a quarter of all those in the UK.

Midlands also up by 28 to 1165

North East & Yorkshire fell the most today. And right now are doing the best of all England regions in daily cases and on Zoe. Down 33 to 890

North West down just 3 to 829 and is up week to week from 815. 829 is the lowest of all the major regions. Only East and South West have fewer patients than North West. North West on 103 has half the ventilated patients that London does.

UK hospital numbers fell today - Scotland and Northern Ireland both fell day to day along with England and only Wales went up by 13 to 388.

UK total patients today is down 43 on 7366.

That is up from 7285 last Friday.

Ventilated patients are up 6 - every nation going up by small numbers. Total 903. It was 900 last Friday.

So edging up but pretty flat really. Not increasing dramatically but the path has changed from small falls to small rises in the past week or so.

Is this virus behaving differently to any other we've known? It's an odd one to me. I know the flu changes all the time so is this normal, or is it proof it's been tampered with at source to make it more deadly? I'm not big on conspiracies but it does make you wonder.

Get those boosters booked people.

2 doses of AZ 25 or more weeks ago gives "10% protection".
2 doses of Pfizer/Biontech 25 or more weeks ago gives "40% protection"

Im in the AZ group, Booster booked for next week.

Viruses mutate like any other organism does. its just evolution.

the speed of mutation is the question, Flu mutates quickly, Chicken pox etc very slow.
