You know I get this I’m teetering myself but the one thing that won’t allow me to is - we know our govt are crap but the whole world to one degree or another is following a similar path. All these politicians and scientists etc can’t have all gone mad or have shares in vaccine producers.

Every life has a price I have said this from the beginning I’m still not sure what that price should be. Should we let someone die to help a kids education, should we let someone die to save a pub. I would like someone to honestly say listen I think this number of deaths is acceptable to save a countries economy. Let’s have it.

Depends which pub.

So…we live under varying degrees of lockdown forever?

before omicron came along they were teeing us up for a lockdown for flu as they said they were expecting a flu wave due to reduced immunity from the Covid years and we all should get our flu jabs ASAP to help the nhs not get overwhelmed.

no need to mention this now they have omicron to do their deed.

How everyone feeling after their booster

Sore arm is the main thing. I feel very mildly under the weather & have achy muscles, mainly in my back, but all pretty tame and nothing really to write home about. Just had a few paracetamol and I was right.

Not forever no but a degree of restriction socially wasn't that hard to accept a few months ago.

Table service, fewer numbers being allowed inside, timed visits etc helped to keep people focused on being considerate that the virus is still about.

It also put a lot of people off going out altogether which wouldn't have been a bad thing from the scenes I saw whilst in town on Saturday.

All that comes at a great, great cost though. Surely you get that? We can't accept that. It kills livelihoods and professions. People's mental health with it too.

The cost to human beings from this is just too much I’m afraid. We might not get that right now or some might not see it but it’s there imo and we will see it down the line.

It also came when there was a degree of financial compensation in place for many businesses and people. That safety net has been withdrawn, I believe, so there could be terminal harm ahead if the situation deteriorates quickly.

Won't having to self isolate for 10 days when displaying symptoms potentially have exactly the same affect on livelihoods, professions and mental health.

Allowing everyone to roam completely free is likely to increase cases and increase isolation time.

I'd say isolation is far worse than having to.put up with a few restrictions like the ones I've mentioned.

Personally other than reduced capacity at City non of the restrictions like face masks, booking tables etc bothered me too much abd in hindsight since contracting the virus I wish they'd have been in place at the weekend.

This is likely. Any society that finds itself obliged to shift or alter its behaviour will create industries as well as destroying others that cannot evolve with the society it serves.

It’s a small example, but our local Sainsbury’s has shuttered its deli and butcher counters. Two factors. One is Covid causing a drop off in footfall and the other is supply issues, so they have responded to changed circumstances.
