My neighbours have 7 kids, 3 are school age, 4 are over 18 (3 of the 4 have moved out). Each week, the 3 return to the family home. I've then seen the 3 get picked up outside by partners sometimes or bring their kids to see their grandad/grandma etc. On top of that he's a trader, so has various different people coming into the house. I've seen them have friends over with their kids. The people they interact with do the same. No wonder we are fucked.

I see similar here, so you can by that analysis deduce that this is and has been the same throughout the country for months. In my area I haven't heard of or seen any of these visitors or grandparents becoming ill as a result. So as strange as that sounds perhaps it is a kind of positive sign? That millions have been mixing unbeknown to the authorities for months and not been infected.

I think the odds of those people getting seriously ill are still low but when you ramp that up with big infection possibility, then you play the odds game. I'm largely ok with the roadmap, save a few things, but I can see it being delayed
Would not surprise me either. But the reality is we have to learn to live with Covid and we are not planning to beat it into non existence just get to a point where it is on a par with flu.

The vaccines will get better and will react to changes annually like the flu jab and we will come to not forget it s here but treat it as an acceptable risk that we take precautions about if we feel vulnerable,

How can you say with any certainty that we will never lockdown again?

Feel sorry for Whitty, a highly intelligent man who is gagged by buffoons

Is there not a chance that this virus could one day mutate itself into non - existence.

A person called Rachel rings in to the briefing asking for the UK to donate all its vaccines to developing countries after the top five groups have been vaccinated.

I supose she will be happy to explain to the family of a 52yr old from Wolverhampton, London or Manchester that they died of covid as she thought it was better that the UK gave its vaccines to a foreign country.

Uum possibly not.

And Boris essentially delivered a fuck you to all teachers when he was asked in the Commons about them getting a vaccine and passing the buck to a couple of medical bodies.

I am evidence that kids and teachers bring this home with them and pass it through the household.

My lad had three separate periods of 14-day isolations due to outbreaks in his schools bubbles, not including his own positive test before Xmas.

My daughter has had two.

All these within the space of October and December.

As you say, there will be some 'parents' who won't even be truthful with the tests.
To be fair you are also evidence that you can overcome it at your age etc
As such it makes sense to vaccinate the groups they are doing at present and if you are a teacher and fall in to one of these groups then fair enough
Key workers should definitely be higher up than the average person but it’s hard to say quite where
I’m like you, wife is a teacher and bought it home from school, luckily I didn’t get it. Not sure how mind

Not sure if I feel up or down with all news today....think I'm on the upside just.
Same here, was hoping for some lossening sooner. But as the current lockdown is so slack its no surprise that this is going to take longer to get cases down and the vaccine rollout seems to have slowing the past week. Shame they have continued to cast entertainment music and culture on the bonfire but it isnt anything new. Last to open as usual.

I struggle to believe that there could be a surge this summer higher than last summer, we’ll have a high majority vaccinated by May, June etc.

Maybe that’s a too simplistic view but I think seasonality or seasonal behaviour will play a big part and did last year.

I agree. But it could go differently, so not assuming that and opening up carefully is important IMO.

Cant see another lockdown after this for the simple reason that if this doesnt work with the vaccine rollout whats the point. Firstly you cant ruin millions of peoples lives indefinitely with no exit plan. Also i predict there will be widespread disobedience if we have another lockdown.
