Well they cant force them. What do you want them to say?
What I increasingly feel like saying in here.....

Surely you understand why saying that I offered 100 people a free chocolate does not mean 100 people had a free chocolate.

The number who DID is what matters.

That's the point I have made over and over in here.

It has nothing to do with politics and all to do with clarity.

Staying at home ,proper isolation, not going out to work or socially becomes the norm after a while , i was agrophobic for a decade , it becomes harder to go out than to stay in , a football game was somewhat of a jump in the deep end and being in the pub first with the people and the noise near!y gave me a panic attack but man did it shake me out of my bubble ..into a pandemic , timing is everything lol
We have something in our area called Social Prescribing, a really excellent facility for those who are isolated.
Maybe there is something similar in yours (or perhaps you already know about it?).
I'm not sure how, or even if, the facility is being delivered at the moment but it's very good.

Matt Hancock says he wants to "put to bed a myth" about the fair share of vaccines.

The North East, North West and Midlands are each "getting its fair share of vaccine", adding that the vaccine is going to "all parts of the whole country".

He adds that's happening on a "fair basis, according to need".

Mr Hancock says there's a "bumpy" supply "for the whole country" - and the UK some days does lots of vaccines, on other days fewer.

"If your area has a few days where supply is lower than it has been, that is because of the supply available nationally

The Government's target is to offer 15 million vaccines by mid February. 'Offering' the vaccine has always been how the target is framed.

All they are doing is continuing to report progress towards their clearly stated objective.

Not sure why this is so difficult to understand.

The health secretary begins by saying he's got "quite a lot of news to bring you up to speed on".

On vaccines, 9.2 million people have been given a jab across the UK. That includes 931,204 vaccinations just this weekend - equivalent to 1 in every 60 adults.

He says it "fills me with pride that so many people are doing so much to help this rollout to happen so smoothly".

As of today, the UK has vaccinated over half of all people in their 70s, he confirms.

Every eligible care home has also been visited, with residents and staff offered the vaccine, Mr Hancock says.

On vaccine supply, Mr Hancock says the government has ordered another 40 million doses with Valneva - emphasising minsters have "taken a 'no regrets attitude' to backing vaccines

At the current rate of progress all of the top 9 groups (basically everyone over 50 plus vulnerable with pre existing conditions) will be completed by April 8th. Obviously there is a very good chance that the rate will go up too to bring that date forward. From April 1st the required rate of second doses goes up significantly so the more we can do before then the better.

There is a big Asda nearby as well
I think I may have been in that area a few times in the past! I'm taking my daughter with me so she can do he shopping while I go for my jab.
She uses my credit card to do my shopping, as I rarely go out these days.
(Wonder if Tony's Chippy will be open?)

The target was to vaccinate the most vulnerable categories by mid Feb, somewhere along the way it changed to 'offer', that's what I find difficult to understand. As has been said, it's about as clear as mud, have some been offered and declined, or is it just that some have had to delay due to covid outbreaks, or a combination of things? It's fairly important to know if you have loved ones in care.

Greater Manchester highlights:

Broke the 1000 barrier for the first time in 2021. At 941.

Down 271 on yesterday.

Over half of the NW fall today so the GM percentage of the NW total fell from 39.4% to 37.2%.

Everyone down apart from Manchester - which only rose by 7.

Only Wigan and Stockport still over 100 and doing relatively less well than the others though not disastrously so - Stockport even going up week to week - though both down a little day to day.

Doing much better were the other 7 boroughs who all fell a fair bit and were under 100 - including Oldham and Bury who both managed to go below 50.

Was always stated in briefings as offer although reported incorrectly you can check back on gov.co.uk
