GM Weekly Pop Data after yesterday:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Salford 414 / 514 / DOWN 100 Testing positive 13.3%

Manchester 343 / 405 / DOWN 62 Testing positive 13.7%

Oldham 331 / 516 / DOWN 185 Testing positive 13.7%

Stockport 291 / 426 / DOWN 135 Testing positive 10.3 %

Rochdale 287 / 489 / DOWN 202 Testing positive 13.4%

Tameside 281 / 479 / DOWN 198 Testing positive 11.4%

Bury 280 / 398 / DOWN 118 Testing positive 12.6%

Trafford 271 / 398 / DOWN 127 Testing positive 10.4%

Wigan 259 / 491 / DOWN 232 Testing positive 12.8%

Bolton 205 / 358 / DOWN 153 Testing positive 13.3%

STILL EVERYONE DOWN BY THREE FIGURES IN THE WEEK BAR MANCHESTER

Salford still alone just over 400 but seven of the ten boroughs now under 300.

Stockport rose 5 places in one day because of it being the only riser today bucking the GM trend of falls. Though only a little and there is now just 32 separating six boroughs as the table closes up as it usually does. So any off day by almost anyone will now see them shift positions.

Bolton now lowest it has been since 11 May and still falling, Should be the first back into the 100s tomorrow.

Stockport up by 42 - on 10, 298 - normally an OK score. Not today it was the highest in GM. Something Stockport very rarely achieves.

Trafford took full advantage going up by just 26 - its lowest in ages - to 10, 384. This ate big into Stockport's best overall Pop Score lead by 16 in one go cutting it to just 86.

Rochdale up 34 to 13, 401

But Bolton again was the lowest Pop Score in GM today - just 22 - to 13, 322.

Bolton today was the lowest GM score in some weeks.

Bury up 30 to 12, 572.

Manchester up 34 - its lowest in weeks - to 13, 680

Oldham up 40 to 13, 666 - which means Manchester still leads on the highest GM Pop Score title across the pandemic but only 14 ahead of Oldham now.

Salford up 40 - to 13, 259 . Not quite the highest rise today as it has been lately.

Tameside up 28 to 11, 450

And Wigan up 24 to 12, 822. Again second best behind Bolton today and its lowest score in weeks.

There was a big discussion in here at the time about AZ and what happened. And we all saw coming what did come.

I do believe there was commercial opportunism seized by the US drug companies for which this was an opportunity to dominate for years to come. So in that respect - given the ethos of business and money and the best is best by earning the most - it was not a shock,

However, you have to temper that with the reality that the US vaccines were new high tech and nobody knew if they would work or not and the AZ path was a little safer. And done so it could be used everywhere which it knew was the real need as getting countries like the US and UK vaccinated was a doddle compared with the majority of the world. One benefit of the British 'empire' as was that the US never had is that it creates a global sense of awareness the US has not had need to develop as it is built on independence FROM that empire and going its own way.

Too little thought was given to this by those who dissed one vaccine over another as this was a global effort and a global fight not a parochial my country's vaccine is better than yours and we are saving our people faster than yours.

That means diddly squat if half the world is at the mercy of one tough to use vaccine that might make billions whilst millions die.

This use of an mrna vaccine as a booster if you had one of the other kind is just prudence in the face of new variants that the new tech has proved better at combatting which we only know from experience.

What I have said before in here and is urgent is that there should be a global agreement with ALL the drug manufacturers involved to pool their knowledge and expertise and facilities and production and create a GLOBAL effort to fight together this virus and plan for the next one too.

Nobody will win a vaccine war. But the world can very easily lose one.
Pfizer announced a 25% increase in their price for the EU yesterday, with Moderna announcing a 13% increase on the same day. Kill the non MRNA vaccines, have an effective monopoly and, in the middle of a pandemic, increase your prices. It’s a bloody disgrace and suggests mutations and annual boosters will be the agreed way forward. One of the problems of having universities and their scientists massively funded by big pharma….

Haven't seen for myself but assuming you're correct, called it:
Pretty sure they're about the jack the price up too. They're about to lose at least 3 products, by my reckoning, which are contributing >$2B a year.
Not even related to COVID either.

Pfizer have been designing poor roots to APIs for years and it's biting them in the arse. The world is about to pay for it.

So you are saying it's a conspiracy?
