NORTHERN IRELAND data as well as Wales (which is always not released Saturdays) is AWOL today for as yet unknown reasons. So the UK numbers are just England and Scotland today making comparisons rather pointless.

122 All Settings Deaths - it was 178 last week - so even without Wales & N Ireland that will be well down as there were only 6 added from N Ireland las Saturday and Wales added 15 on Sunday.

And cases are 31,348.

Last week with just Wales missing the number was 30, 144 - so likely maybe 1000 up if Wales was at similar levels to yesterday.

ENGLAND ONLY CASES

Today 28, 087 - was 28, 199 yesterday & 22, 956 last week - so UP 5131 wk to wk

Very similar to yesterday.

ENGLAND only deaths today 104 - it was 130 last Saturday. 104 in hospital & 26 outside.

So likely a fall to under 100 hospital deaths today.

As you know England hospitals post Saturday, Sunday and Monday together on Mondays now.

Last week there were 104 and 122 the week before that in hospital so it looks like the second straight fall.

NORTH WEST & GM SUMMARY

Another less than ideal day for GM being brought down by Stockport and Tameside and Trafford to a degree again. Though Stockport had another small improvement Zoe seems to be judging that right at least.

NORTH WEST DOWN 343 day to day to 3622.

Of that GM only fall by the 43! Obviousy well below expectations.

Week to Week NW is DOWN too - by 86 - from 3708.

Unfortunately GM is UP by 65 week to week from 1243 to 1308.

So it is even worse than the day to day measure to be up when the region is down.

Again - though - small numbers so mininal damage.

Trafford up 55 week to week was the biggest cluprit today. Indeed they had the same Pop Score rise as Stockport today for first time in a while. 70, becauseof this.

Bolton were next worst - up 47 week to week.

Stockport - though falling in numbers for third straight day - was also up but by less than yesterday which was better than the day before.

Up today wk to wk by 38 from a rise of 75 yesterday & of 106 the day before.

So small steps but in the right direction.

Still Stockport set a new record by being above Manchester every day for a week Never happened before or seemed likely ever to do given the population difference.

Manchester is doing extraordinarily well and scored just 161 and was beaten byTrafford too. Something even more unlikely than Stockport doing so.

Only Bury and Rochdae again were under 100 - both low in the 60s.

AND

NORTH WEST FALLS BY 343 TO 3622 V 3708 - FALLS 86 IN WEEK

NW HAD A BETTER DAY THAN MOST TODAY

GM AS A PERCENTAGE OF NORTH WEST CASES

TODAY 36,1% UP FROM 34.1% YESTERDAY - ONE OF THE HIGHEST RECENT GM SPLITS OF THE NW NUMBER

HOWEVER ALSO WELL UP FROM 33.5% LAST WEEK

WEEK TO WEEK MATTERS MORE SO ON BALANCE TODAY'S NUMBERS ARE A BIT DISAPPOINTING

GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1308 - DOWN 43 FROM YESTERDAY.

NORTH WEST DOWN 343 TO 3622 - WELL UNDER PAR FOR GM TODAY HERE. SHOULD BE 120 OR SO.

VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1243 - SO UP 65.

NORTH WEST FELL BY 86 WEEK TO WEEK FROM 3877.

CANNOT SELL A RISE WHEN THE NORTH WEST FELL AS GOOD NEWS - BUT AGAIN NUMBERS ARE SMALL SO DAMAGE IS MINIMAL

STOCKPORT 206 - DOWN 3 on day & UP 38 wk to wk.Not a good day obviously but another small improvement. Still a full week run and eighth time in 9 days they score more cases than Manchester. Pop Score up 70 today. Only slightly down on yesterday's but Trafford scored 70 today too so the gap stays at 76. Small steps but inching in the rught direction. POP SCORE 13, 111

TRAFFORD 166 - UP 31 on day & UP 55 Wk to wk - given these wk to wk numbers and a top score matching Pop Score rise of 70 points today it had the worst day today. VERY rare to be higher than Manchester here obviously. Overall Pop Score across the pandemic stays at a lead of 76 but easily follows Stockport by 24 hours into the 13 K club. POP SCORE 13, 035

MANCHESTER 161 - DOWN 31 on day & DOWN 42 wk to wk. Another really good day here in Manchester which has been doing remarkably well in past two or three weeks. As surprising as Stockport's rise. Pop Score up 29 - the best in GM today again. POP SCORE 15, 858

WIGAN 145 - DOWN 30 on day & UP 1 wk to wk. Better day here than yesterday. Pop score up 44 today. Enough to enter 15 K club as its 5th GM member. Would have been sixth had this happened yesterday - see below POP SCORE 15, 024

TAMESIDE 136 - DOWN 34 on day & DOWN 10 wk to wk - A much better day here. Pop Score up by 60. POP SCORE 14, 427

OLDHAM 128 - UP 1 on day & UP 4 Wk to Wk. Pop Score up 54 and now 180 ahead of Manchester for highest overall GM pop score. But enough to become the first GM borough into the 16K club. POP SCORE 16, 038

SALFORD 120 - UP 7 on day & DOWN 3 wk to wk. Still bucking trends here in the borough Zoe has best in GM right now. Certainly doing well but not sure THE best. Pop Score up 45. POP SCORE 15, 671

BOLTON 111 - UP 4 on day & UP 47 wk to wk - Bolton Pop Score up 39 and big week to week rise. Bolton had a not so good day. POP SCORE 15, 145

ROCHDALE 69 - UP 16 on day & DOWN 1 wk to wk. Pop Score up 31 . POP SCORE 15, 367

BURY 66 - DOWN 4 on day & DOWN 29 wk to wk. Pop score here up 34 POP SCORE 14, 805

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Bury 485, Rochdale 509, Oldham 689, Bolton 754, Salford 775, Trafford 997, Tameside 1079, Wigan 1080, Manchester 1159, Stockport 1443

At the right end of the table Bury and Rochdale in scrap for the lead. Bury now sub 500 too.

At the wrong end of the table Stockport rose yet again today to far beyond the worst numbers ever here and ahead of Manchester by 284 - a gap which is shooting up daily whatever Stockport does.

And still no peep from the media about Stockport despite this unprecedented situation.

Tameside and Wigan stay over 1000 but Trafford JUST avoided joining them.

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

MANCHESTER 208 // 222 //DOWN 14 WAS 312 (down 104)

ROCHDALE 227 // 230 // DOWN 3 WAS 284 (down 57 )

BURY 254 // 261 // DOWN 7 WAS 289 (down 35)

BOLTON 262 // 236 // UP 26 WAS 241 (up 21)

OLDHAM 290 // 284 // UP 6 WAS 315 (down 25)

SALFORD 295 // 250 // UP 45 WAS 386 (down 91)

WIGAN 326 // 269 // UP 57 WAS 283 (UP 43)

TRAFFORD 420 // 311 // UP 109 WAS 333 (UP 87 )

TAMESIDE 475 // 334 // UP 141 WAS 434 (UP 41)

STOCKPORT 491 // 356 // UP 135 WAS 345 (UP 146)

Tameside had a better day than Stockport and fell as Stockport rose up to its highest Pop Score ever and a day away from topping 500 for the first time by any GM borough since last Winter.

Yet still not a peep from the media.

Although Trafford had a bad day and went over 400 too today these two are now way ahead of the rest and even Trafford is 55 behind.

The rest are now a long way back revealing just how much worse Stockport is.

Manchester is still the best still in GM on pretty much every measure and edging towaeds going into the 100s any day now. With Rochdae doing well too with low scores almost every day.

There are surprisingly huge differences now between Manchester and Rochdale and Stockport and Tameside in terms of active case numbers and someone really needs after 2 or 3 weeks of this to be looking into how and why if it is schools then things are o much worse across these parts of a relatively small metro county.
