Ironically because we have a better heath care system.
Just out of interest, why would that result in increased deaths?

Personally I'm not convinced that the health care system in the UK is really any better than the others. I think it ranks about in the middle of health care systems in Europe.

GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1215 - DOWN 93 FROM YESTERDAY.

NORTH WEST DOWN 70 TO 3552 - OBVIOUSLY GOOD IF YU FALL BY MORE THAN THE WHOLE REGION _ THOUGH SMALL NUMBERS SO MINIMAL IMPACT.

VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1097 - SO UP 118.

NORTH WEST UP BY 414 WEEK TO WEEK FROM 3877.

THIS IS BELOW EXPECTATION FOR A RISE SO GOOD NEWS FOR GM AGAIN

MANCHESTER 165 - UP 4 on day & UP 25 wk to wk. A less good day here in Manchester up on both measures hence top spot. Pop Score up 30 - NOT the best in GM today. POP SCORE 15, 888

STOCKPORT 165 - DOWN 41 on day & DOWN 2 wk to wk.Better day obviously and both measures down - on day by the most in GM. Whereas Manchester is up in both so SK earns second place. Pop Score up 56 today. But Trafford scored 67 today too so the gap is cut by 11. And even Tameside scored more Pop Score points today than Stockport today. POP SCORE 13, 167

TRAFFORD 160 - DOWN 6 on day & UP 47 Wk to wk - given these wk to wk numbers and a Pop score of 67 points today it clearly had the worst day. Overall Pop Score across the pandemic is now 65. POP SCORE 13, 102

TAMESIDE 146 - UP 10 on day & UP 13 wk to wk - A less good day here too. Pop Score up by 64 - second most in GM today. POP SCORE 14, 491

WIGAN 142 - DOWN 3 on day & UP 19 wk to wk. Pop score up 43 today. POP SCORE 15, 067

OLDHAM 111 - DOWN 17 on day & UP 34 Wk to Wk. Pop Score up 47 and now 197 ahead of Manchester for highest overall GM pop score. POP SCORE 16, 085

BOLTON 103 - DOWN 8 on day & UP 13 wk to wk - Bolton Pop Score up 35. POP SCORE 15, 180

SALFORD 101 - DOWN 19 on day & UP 5 wk to wk. Pop Score up 39. POP SCORE 15, 710

ROCHDALE 65 - DOWN 4 on day & DOWN 37 wk to wk. Pop Score up 29 - Best in GM today. POP SCORE 15, 396

BURY 57 - DOWN 9 on day & UP 1 wk to wk. Pop score here up 30 POP SCORE 14, 835

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Rochdale 472, Bury 486, Oldham 723, Bolton 767, Salford 780, Trafford 1044, Tameside 1092, Wigan 1099, Manchester 1184, Stockport 1441

At the right end of the table Rochdale took the lead from Bury and both now sub 500.

At the wrong end of the table Stockport FELL ( yay!) though only by 2 and Manchester went up so Stockport's lead was cut by 27 to 257 - first drop in ages.

Tameside and Wigan stay over 1000 and Trafford had a bad enough day to join them.

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

MANCHESTER 213 // 217 //DOWN 4 WAS 298 (down 85)

ROCHDALE 213 // 232 // DOWN 19 WAS 274 (down 61 )

BURY 255 // 247 // UP 8 WAS 294 (down 39)

BOLTON 266 // 232 // UP 34 WAS 254 (up 12)

SALFORD 297 // 255 // UP 42 WAS 354 (down 57)

OLDHAM 304 // 277 // UP 27 WAS 302 (up 2 )

WIGAN 332 // 266 // UP 66 WAS 279 (UP 53)

TRAFFORD 439 // 329 // UP 110 WAS 342 (UP 97 )

TAMESIDE 477 // 357 // UP 120 WAS 425 (UP 52)

STOCKPORT 490 // 366 // UP 124 WAS 352 (UP 138)

Tameside and Trafford rose after bad days and Stockport fell but only by 1 so minimal impact on the table. But at least Stockport's march into the 500s has been slowed and now stalled. Hopefully stopped.

The rest are now a long way back revealing just how much worse Stockport is.

Manchester is still the best still in GM on pretty much every measure but rose today with Rochdale falling and they both emded up on the same score.

A gap of 277 between Manchester and Stockport is the most by far.
