Couple of queries

1. my pal and his mrs who are both double jabbed have just tested positive. What’s the crack?

2. if someone is vaccinated can they still cop for one of the new variants that are floating about?

3. Surely so many people being vaccinated “forces” covid to mutate? So isnt vaccination just creating a new problem?

Serious these questions btw. I rarely take part in this thread but am genuinely curious.

This is scary

Superb Twitter thread.

Is anyone suggesting we are going back to square one?

Most people don’t want lockdowns, but will be concerned that this new variant may cause us a worse winter.

All we can do now is wait to see how this new variant changes the landscape.

It could be better or worse than predicted. We have no way of knowing, yet.

I posted some people seem obsessed with it. HP asked if anyone dare name names so I named the names. Her being one.

And I will stick to my opinion that it is unhealthy to post about Covid 5 times a day for 18 months.

I held my counsel in it for several months. Rubaituesday barely posts on any thread ever part from this one and seems almost excited by the new variant! It’s taken over his and Hps life! For fuck sake I had it bad and was in hospital and my mum has had it bad but I still get on with life like many others. If I can’t say on this thread that some people (2) seem absolutely obsessed then I apologise but you were the one who started posting the attention seeking bollox. Enjoy seeing Trafford beating Oldham - personally I couldn’t give a fuck and am entitled to that opinion.

and take more than a kiss to upset me??? Do be do.

xxxxxxxx
I don’t dislike the thread at all. It’s a good thread. I commented some people seem obsessed and almost exited by negative news and I got a rant back asking to name names so I did. That ok?
Do you remember the comments you used to direct at me about variants? Nothing worse than a fool with a big mouth.

Two KLM flights arrived at Schiphol from South Africa yesterday and the passengers were kept on board for hours until they could all be tested; 61 of the 600 have tested positive and the samples have been taken to Rotterdam to determine the variant.

How do they get on a plane being positive? That’s 10% of the people! That new variant will come over here just like the delta.

I’m presuming you were replying to me. All passengers apparently boarded with negative tests taken within 72hrs of departure. Arrivals in London yesterday were not tested upon arrival and allowed to be absorbed into society. I would imagine ‘will come’ should be ‘has come’.

i'd asume its here already, slowing it down is what were doing, people must have got on that plane knowing they were positive or feeling symptoms in the rush to beat the deadline,no actual checks for boarding if you have it at that moment or not just the usual locator stuff, acording to the graph above this will be the dominant strain within two weeks if im reading it correct, all is not over though there is a chance it may be more infectious which seems the case but make people less ill, fingers crossed

Dr John Campbell's comments are interesting.

This guy is excellent. Just gives you the facts without getting into too much political hysteria. It is clear that this variant is a big moment in this crisis but it is too early to see how it is going to pan out. I try to be optimistic about things so I am hoping that the new variant will still be curbed by vaccines (at least to some extent).

They fell into that gap where COVID is initially undetectable, flew on a negative test and then tested positive some days later. Bare in mind they had no symptoms so without surveillance testing they'd of walked out the airport and never known they had it. There's nothing you can do about this, the UK only requires a lateral flow test which is even more inaccurate but it still wouldn't be picked up by PCR.

The only way they've been able to combat it was via hotel quarantine for arrivals but that won't work for every case unless every country is on the red list.

It's going to come here either way but it's not because we have bad rules but rather because we're a global centre for connections and generally hundreds of thousands of people are constantly coming and going.

Heathrow deals with perhaps nearly 200,000 people connecting per day, it's silly to think that it isn't here already really.

Meanwhile here they all just walked out of the airport with no extra tests or precautions. Once they are off the plane and into the absolute crowded no social distancing mess that is immigration it's too late

Time to get tough, compulsory vax and fuck the do gooders off with their human rights shite. It’s almost a war now, serious problems need radical solutions, I know it won’t happen but the attitude of the anti vaxers is really pissing loads of people off, they’re all selfish fuckers.

Couldn‘t agree more. Was just talking to the missus about exactly the same, it needs to be compulsory if you want any interaction with society.

These twats who go on about their rights, what about our rights not to have some ignorant selfish **** infect us? Their argument is as ridiculous as someone saying they have a right to drive home after 8 pints.

I’ve said for years that we should have a basic intelligence test in place for lots of things in society. Driving and voting for example are two things thick people shouldn’t be allowed to do.

10% were positive?!?!?! That’s an incredibly high number.
