Inevitable. A bit like the closing of pubs and giving everyone notice so they got rammed. As soon as the news about the new variant broke everyone arriving from South Africa should have been quarantined. Everyone already here should have been contacted and told to isolate. They should have their details from the locator form. It still wouldn't have prevented it arriving but it may have halted the spread.

Its about time they showed some fucking bottle and started getting ahead of this, ionstead of fucking about until it gets out of hand.

  1. Masks mandatory no fucking around with 'its optional'
  2. WFH everywhere, unless totally not possible.
These are two very quick easy steps.

while in spain last week everyone wears a mask out shopping etc, no ifs or buts and i think a 600 euro fine if you dont comply, over here the scrotes play the exemption rule and think there being smart, why? i have no idea mate,there in dire need of educating

Yeah I was in Spain in September for several weeks and noted the same with masks etc outside even.

I think it's just they are a more tight nit society ultimatley and we seem more disjointed and idiotic.

It’s what all the usual suspects were reporting yesterday. Truth is, nobody knows and likely wont know for a few weeks. What I do know, is that trying to eliminate this disease is utterly pointless and the only data we should be looking at is hospitalisations and deaths.

so if your due a booster in say a month 'like me' and this strain is vaccine evading and its most certainly going to become the dominant strain there is no point in having the booster?

And it never was (maybe the world could have seen it off before March 2020, but after that, it was impossible). Sadly politicians have always had an overinflated view of their control over the uncontrollable. What’s worse is the absolute fear mongering that they’ve used throughout and I’d imagine BoJo will be at it again this afternoon!

Ultimatley 'hospital capacity' being a bottle neck still hasn't been adressed.

I don't understand why the government hasn't started looking at long term ways of dealing with this, because the major issue of protecting the NHS is still in play.
