Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

To a point yes , but I cant afford to keep going to something I am not enjoying , if I lived down the road not a problem it would be like the old days when we were shit, it was more a release from work on a Saturday , didn't cost to much a few beers home by 7. Now its 6 hrs to Manchester , 6 hrs back just to talk about VAR or the amount of away fans around us or the half n half around us. Plus as it stands my household is down 20% on income. Its around £200 per game between my lad and me that's a lot make the tickets a tenner and all 3pm ko great !!
I live close to the ground & it’s not the money either , it’s the other things you list , it’s like wwf now , gerrymandered games at best , downright blatant cheating by the officials at worst , var has killed the spontaneity of a goal scored & changed the game completely . cCity not fighting back & the fact they’llsell tickets to any away fan anywhere in the ground has made the games just not enjoyable anymore , I just end up annoyed & it’s supposed to be enjoyment. VAR is the big one for me though that’s why with a very heavy heart i’m Finished with the game .

If you look at the bigger picture then the crisis that is engulfing football is far more serious than if Liverpool win the league or not.

If, as seems likely, games have to be played behind closed doors for the rest of this year then you can say all clubs below the PL will fold and probably a fair few PL clubs too. No season ticket income, no match day income, probably less TV money (who would bother subscribing to Sky & BT) all add up to an existential crisis for all of football.

the port vale game for me made me so angry having about 30 vale fans around us 6 alongside us and 5 in front than a big group a few rows down . Spent most of the match with them trying to start fights with me and my lad , f**king horrible, Utd in the league was horrible to. Like you I think VAR is the big killer for me to, I miss the going silly when we score I have found myself just looking at the ref to see what he is doing , hate VAR

I travel along way as do a lot of City fans is it to much to ask City that we feel save and sat with City fans its been terrible this season

It will be finished the moment that the victims gain enough points to mathematically secure the title.
What is more important here (sporting wise) - who wins the title or football? I know you are being facetious but all this debate about the title, the tv money is getting really annoying. I watch football because I love the game, watching it (and playing it when I was a kid), supporting my club, reading about my club, watching other great teams and players, experiencing the match day atmosphere. Do I care about TV money? No! Do I care about another club’s title? No! No! No!!!!!

Yep said it few weeks back that we should have upto next May to finish this season then hopefully we have a vaccine then new season starts August 2021 but the football world have there head up there arse and buried deep.

won't be many clubs left if that happens, the longer we go the priority is to save next season, to protect as many clubs as possible, the need to finish this season pales into significance if we are losing clubs left right and centre

I see that but if there a next season we will be in the same boat as now because this virus is not going away ever but a vaccine will get thing back to some normality.

I wasn't being facetious. I think that a number of games will be played behind closed doors, not with the idea of completing the season, but with the intention of providing the Victims with the opportunity to accrue enough points to be 'legitimate' champions.

And your question as to what is more important, who wins the title or the integrity of football, well I think you can guess my answer. However, the question needs to be asked of the Premier League, the FA and the TV and media companies for the only answer that appears to matter.

for give me if I am wrong but are you saying that playing of games from behind closed doors will stop once the league has been won ? Or when all the positions have been finalised ie relegation because that could mean the rest of the season behind closed doors. If its just to get Liverpool enough points I cant see any club agree to that apart from one !

I think that a 'plan' will be put in place to finish the season, probably behind closed doors, but once begun, the completion of all games will be secondary to achieving the actual goal of having a 'legitimate' title winner. So, if the plan fails after a handful of games because of 'unforeseen' issues, then at least, in all likelihood, the Victims will have gained enough points to be mathematical champions.
