Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I’m a fair man and feel it wrong that Lpool are not recognised in some way if the season is voided.
They should award a merit shield which they could buy from a trophy shop. One of those plastic type designs they get at the local league presentation night.

I think they should be awarded the Devon Loch Trophy, in recognition of the fantastic achievement, they almost made this season !

Agree. They could call it the Virtual Achievement Record. Or VAR for brevity

Just seen on bbcnews web site Danish football plans drive-in football. Games to be played behind close doors when games resume and big screens put up in the car parks so supporters can watch from their cars.

When do people think we will see a live game again.
I'm not talking behind closed doors.
If they play behind doors I will act as if it's not been played will not watch on tv or on pub.
I'm talking about actually going to the game ..what footballs all about.
I cant see it next season even

Fans of which teams are plastics ?
Well, I think all the Premier League clubs have significant numbers of fans whose only connection with the club is via the TV and who are attracted by the success of those clubs that make it into the Premier League. I believe City have a growing number of such fans but believe that the usual suspects - Rags, Dippers, Arsenal and Chelsea - are prominent. Look, for what it's worth, I wouldn't want to watch football without crowds but think that it is the only way a 2020/21 season could happen and I think there will be a demand from significant numbers of folk around the world - a demand which TV and the football authorities will be happy to supply. Even in a restricted form it may be late in the year when it would be allowed by authorities for all the reasons that others have pointed out - including the fact that some attendance by medics would be needed. My real concern is not for the Premier League but for non-league football where I now get most of my live football fix. (My trips to City have reduced this season having given up my season ticket after the 2018/19 season). Whilst the big Premier clubs would currently lose only 5% of their income from missing gate money, most clubs below Championship level cannot survive without gate money. TV money will only save the big clubs.
