Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Very sensible. It’s perfectly sane to think that in the next five weeks the daily trend will have gone down long enough to first relax lockdown and then go through the stages of restarting the economy, getting people back to work, organising the players back to their clubs and a mini pre season before restarting the league without any danger of a second spike of infections.

in fact, the more I think about it the more certain I am that this will come to pass. Are there any restrictions to riding my Unicorn down the M61 for the first game back? I want to arrive in style to celebrate.

Well played sir. A tip of my horned hat to you.

Be interesting to see what UEFA say now after their statement regarding all leagues had to finish if teams wanted to play in Euro competition next season.

I think this will be the first domino to fall and all other European governments will take it out of the football authorities hands.

Don't think so. Ajax got knocked out of the EL in the first knockout round, 3-2 on aggregate by Getafe. Don't see any other Dutch sides in either European competition.

I’ve said it before I think the one thing that will end the season will be insurance. If player safety can’t be guaranteed, for example if they get injured and there an issue getting hospital treatment, then the players may not be insured. No insurance no matches.

This is going to got tits up for the Dippers , Premier league and UEFA , the Dutch are just the first of many who will make a declaration that it will be at least September before any return to football would be considered , which in my opinion is hugely optimistic in this country with over 800 a die still dying.
Its about time the Premier league bit the bullet and conceded defeat and accept any financial hit and stop giving the Dippers false hope , 2019/20 season is null & void , it never happened , lets get on with saving lives and staying at home , f&k the Dippers.
