Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

He’s factually correct though, so hardly ‘obsessed and sick’.
There is a lot of frothing at the mouth on this thread, and lot of it is directed at Liverpool and a league title and not the Coronavirus and the thousands of deaths. Linking a decision made at the Hillsborough tragedy over 30 year ago with a reason not to restart games behind closed doors due to a pandemic is bordering on obsessed and sick imo.

They are reporting that maybe 41 people who have died from Covid 1o can be traced back to the Liverpool/atletico game, now this isn't a blame game have ago at scousers bit of info as uefa should have stopped all games immediately and tbf honest if arteta hadn't got infected we would have been playing arsenal with plenty of fans turning up and games would have gone on at that weekend..

But at 41 (not including spanish fans) if you think about it this is the 3rd biggest football tradgedy in the country, after hilsborough and bradford, yet won't even be thought about that way.

Pretty shite and depressing tbh.

At the height of a deadly virus not stopping those fans coming in from Spain's hotspot so we could all be kept jolly by football is a scandal, herd immunity for you,it is a pity that football has more deaths attached to it

Of 41 deaths can be traced back to that game, than questions need asking and someone is responsible for it. If it's the government for allowing in 3000 fans from a Europe hot spot of the virus, or UEFA. Someone said it was safe for the game to go ahead. The same with Cheltenham someone said it was safe.
It was known how dangerous this virus is when the decision was made.

Boris didn't stop it as he wanted to go to the rugby

Just remembered Bournemouth have a positive covid test

As I said I wouldn't blame the clubs, all clubs were told to carry on regardless as advice, the Arsenal coaching team getting it was when they started to think shit the games need to stop.

Ask why did eufa make some games behind closed doors but allow others? Why did the spanish and british governments not impose a travel ban for the fans seeing as spain had just started to have high numbers?

It was all a fuck up as with most of the early stages of this pandemic.

It will be interesting to see what Merseyside Police will do when thousands of Liverpool fans turn up at Anfield. Will they just tell the officials to open up the gates and let them in. While omitting what they really should do and move them on.
The Merseyside police won’t see a fucking thing, a bit like when our coach got smashed

Interesting stat floating around on Twitter tonight. Since the Bundesliga restarted, home teams have won only 3 of the 18 games played (16%). Before the break in play the win % for home teams was 44%. Sporting integrity?
