Corruption in English football?

Not really true though is it? Bennett retired in 2006 and Clattenburg left the PL in 2017, eleven years later.
Clattenberg was on a hiatus whilst his court case was taking place I'd I remember correctly?

Funny you should mention Arsenal. For me - and this is some achievement considering the dubious reffing of some of our games down the years - they were on the receiving end of the most bent refereeing display in Premier League history in 2004, courtesy of the head of PIGMOL no less:

Yep, some really shocking decisions there. Also, just in general, against the rest of the league, when you watch Arsenal games, you can see the special treatment is not there a mile off. For whatever reason, there is no sense that a gift is coming when they are struggling. I wonder if it's anything to do with the Emirates deal. Wasn't that signed in 2004?

All these years later that game still makes my blood boil. That bastard Riley let the verminous scum get away with violent assault, repeatedly.
That game proves what we’ve all known: absolute confirmation the sport is rotten to the core.
Right at the beginning of that clip Shrek gets away with what could have been a career-ending assault, and Tyler chuckles and calls him a ‘rascal’.

To me, it is obvious that the Pisscan sent that team out in order to cripple their opponents. No attempt to play football, just break a few legs of the Arsenal players. But to do that he must have known Riley would turn a blind eye. There is no other rational explanation.
The same in the derby when it was so fucking obvious that the rags had been told to take Sweep out of the game.

So, in twelve years, you’ve named 2 examples. Both of which have never been subject to closet inspector. We’re no different to any club, some shite decisions, some that go for us,
Do you think footie is clean then mate?
In the face of: Spot fixing, match fixing, World Cup hosting fixing (all legally proven) Halsey confirming what we all suspected about refs being influenced to do thing (prima facie evidence), new winner of the prem every few years, man United not being successful bad for the brand, 29 penalties in 59 games, games restarting after the ref has blown full time for winning penalties to be scored. There’s a hell of a lot of smoke there!

United haven’t win the league for nearly a decade. That’s some shit match fixing if you ask me. There’s been a new winner of the top flight every few years since 1870. We’ve become a right bunch of fannies on here blaming refs the media etc. All the talk of bent refs bent decisions. It’s all talk. The United penalty at Brighton- handball. Went to VAR. pen correctly given. Ref was perfectly correct to blow for end of game then reverse the decision. VAR is horrific but it was applied correctly in that instance. All this talk of corruption. So little evidence (none)
