Could you/would you take in refugees

Hancock is taking in a family , just for pr i said out loud and the interviewer said the same thing , of course he denied it

He said they would live in his constiency home and he had asked the kids but not the wife ? is she not there still? he is in a flat in london no doubt with the mistress

Bet he never takes anyone in , shrapps the same , load of pr bollocks
Kaz, you have attacked ministers for not doing anything, including taking in refugees.
Now that one says he is, you attack him. You can't have it both ways.

He’s not a minister. He’s a useless corrupt twat who’s been caught lying on numerous occasions. Let’s see if he follows through. Due to his previous history he doesn’t deserve any credit until his words are matched with actions.

He is a liar , proven whilst in the cabinet , he has been doing podcasts saying all he did was fall in love , he has been trying to get back in the publics good side , he wont take anyone in to the home i think his wife and kids are still in , he said he is hardly even there as he has a flat in london , unless he has turfed his wife out and away from his kids

He was on GMB saying how he was going to host this Ukrainian family that he said he knows. The presenter asked how many people. The answer was “Erm five I think”. You can call me cynical but I think he’s bullshitting and it’s part of trying to rehabilitate himself ahead of getting a new cabinet position.
It was that i was watching , put on the spot he made up the number , he is a bullshitter and madley knew it

To his property in a Sussex village. I also noticed that that patronising twat Madeley, who was interviewing him, hasn't done anything himself but ' criticise and insinuate ' Hancock from his golden throne. Fair play to Hancock if he actually does something.

122k individuals and organisations have signed up. Apparently the matching process will start on Friday - so it won’t be down to us? The lack of information on the process is a bit poor. They say first placements next week - Truss was unsure how people will get here but I guess they will give details on that before long.

Hopefully DBS checks will be quick as well, I think they can be turned around in a day or so.

I doubt this is going to work or even happen really.

It's pointless signing up 122k places when so far they have only managed to process just 1,000 applications (most are rejected). I think the actual number of admissions to the UK so far is in the low hundreds. That's not even enough to fill a big plane let alone 122,000 houses up and down the country.

So in reality 99% of people offering a place in their house will not have that place filled despite there being perhaps hundreds of thousands or even millions of displaced people.

This just shows that our policy and system is a complete waste of space. The reality of our message to Ukrainians is "you can try if you can be arsed but don't hold your breath".

It’s been shambolic from the start.

We’d have known people would flee. We’d have known they’d head eastwards. We could have very quickly set up processing centres in Poland etc for anyone wishing to come to the UK. We know people want to stay close to home to return so we should be supplying not just cash but man power to help Poland and others cope.

Patel has been asleep at the wheel on this and in reactive mode rather than proactive. It’s unforgivable and she should go and I think a reshuffle will see that happen - Gove has been his usual incompetent self so no surprises there. Objectively the UK has been excellent at most things during this crisis but we have severely let down Ukrainian people on this part and it’s a huge part. Still time to put it right.

Previous similar program have been with councils or charities with lead ins of over a year.

There are sizable budgets attached normally, with the majority of spend in the first year, some in the second year then decreasing over 5 years. However the families normally have an initial 5 years leave to remain and it is 3 in this case. The money can only be spent on certain things and not brown goods (that is the Home Office guidance, as TVs and Radios were brown once),however that is when they are moving into an empty house, so beds and all furniture, decoration, initial food etc are paid for.

There are also linked families that they will want to place in the same locality, generally for mutual support for relations. As this program is overnight, none of the above will be decided and some won't even be thought about yet. There is normally a huge amount of prep work before the arrivals are flown over, and in for this program I can't see how that can happen or even who would do it in this emergency model. Good luck.
