Council to buy Edgeley Park to stop developers buying it

Whatever you think about them I wouldn't wish what's happened to them on any club, bar one of course.

Not far from me and I have a few County supporting mates, so have always had a little soft spot for them

Rivalries aside The club has been very badly run and really bad business deals done , people running the club in the past interested in lining there own pockets.....
Think back a few years this could have been us in county's position
They have a good set of supporters following them week in week out been dropping like a stone for years and still get the best attendances in there league
Hope they manage to sort the thing out

I can’t see the ground being worth too much as a development site. It’s totally locked in by terraced housing and the railway line so you’d only ever get planning for Houses and it’s not exactly Alderley Edge.
It has a lot going for it in terms of accessibility and catchment area and It’s a tidy little ground for a lower league club, I have certainly been to far worse.
I would have thought someone would buy the ground and the club together and look to turn it round. It must be one of the best prospects for firing a club up the league in terms of the ability to increase the attendance and gain multiple promotions. I guess it all comes down to Brian Kennedy and how much he thinks the ground is worth and how much debt the club is currently in.

I used to frequent Edgeley Park on a Friday night in the late 70s/early 80s when they were well and truly crap. Friday night was County night, and it was cheaper than youth club.
However, I was also present on that dreadful day in 1997, and remember how their fans reacted.

I might change my mind when they play the real tossers at FC United next season, but for the moment, I'm not particularly bothered what happens.
If I want a second club, I'll support New York City.
That's like choosing earache over toothache! Mini rags versus tinpot county-pass me a bucket!

Went to Stockport V Wrexham some years ago, the police caused more trouble than the fans, When I asked a Plod why the large police presence where adopting such aggressive tactics he told me they had " intellegence" that there where two rival "firms" and that there had been "chatter" that there was an arranged kick off, think Plod was getting off on it, had a good day out loads of beer and banter with the County fans and not a hint of trouble, would be sad to see them go under, Wrexham went through the same thing, a developer bought the ground and ruined the club, hence the situation they find theselves in now finnishing half way up the conference, they are now owned and run by the supporters trust, they have paid off all debts and are investing in the playing staff, good bet for getting back into the league next year

Wrexham are rough as cheese. I watched them away at Telford Utd a couple of years ago and there was a massive police presence when you consider the numbers of fans at those sorts of games, there was a bit of trouble though.

They finished the rugby club at Wrexham and then went for the football club. There needs to be more done to prevent clubs from being used as money making tools by rich developers. It's disgusting.

It was the other way around, they brought in the rugby club, into the group of business, then used the football clubs ground and funds to run it weakening the football clubs ability to compete with clubs around them, they then put to pocket the tv cash from the Crusaders, it was all designed get their hands on the ground, geographically its in a similar position to County close to retail outlets.
