Covered seats in north / south stand in CL game

Apologies if covered elsewhere.... watched on TV yesterday and wondered why there was a square section of seats covered in the right hand corner (as you watched on the box) of the south stand and the left hand corner or the north stand?
What was that all about?

We asked for special permission to cover up our empty seats with bin bags, saves on embarrassment for some fans who might know a rag.

Both square sections were equally covered by a big plastic sheet so no one was in the area. Just looked strange every time the camera panned round the areas.
The empty seat sniffing rags must have been orgasmic at the sight

The photographers are normally in a pit in front of the advertising boards, but I guess UEFA have some rule against that so they are higher up above them, which blocks the view off people sat directly behind them. That's the bits that are blocked off.

There were no photographers in these areas and as also stated, the photographers were in front of the advertsement boards on the other side of the goal. I'm sure these two areas are always covered when we play European games, it is a puzzling one this, but it does seem to be a regular thing on EC nights

There were also a couple of sections at the front of the CB stand, but these looked like unfinished areas where the extra seats are being put in at the front, so I don't think those areas could be opened yet.

They're called "fans".

I was told that on CL nights the advertising hoardings at the front are higher in some areas of the ground than they are for PL games. So people in those areas would have a very restricted view.

This is the south stand at half time, there's a TV crew behind the advertising hoarding . It's probably so they can walk around and not restrict anyone's view

I was actually trying to take a photo of the flag, it says "Fresh air not armchair" on it. Top of the class whoever made that :-)

not true the official at the North end was on the other side of the goal from the covered up seats.

Tbh, If I said the real reason why I PERSONALLY think we cover up seats, i'd get berated. But hey ho, Its not really relevant/important when you get over 50k on a chumps league night on a tuesday night when its on telly.
