the trials can't be skipped,the safety trials take as long as they tak e,it will a min one year then healthcare workers will get it first then us sometime after,the money is there

think they can skip a lot of the red tape though which will save months I would imagine

because I work there, and I have used PCR kit. If the University of Padua can do it, why can't the University of Manchester?

I think you should bring in a rule to link references when posters are stating things as fact. It's like a wikipedia moderator's christmas party night on here at the moment.

To be fair, many of us have responded to many posts like that asking for sourcing so it can be determined to be reputable or not and have encouraged everyone to link to articles and reports that reference what they are posting about, when possible.

I don’t think we can functionally enforce a rule like that, though.

Sorry but a new vaccine has to be that,a new vaccine,new human trials,new licencing,i will leave it there but just don't expect it for a year,other drugs are being looked at in the meantime to see if they might help

Yes but the new trials don’t need to cover as much as they used to. The Americans are using a vaccine developed already in the sixties as it’s already gone through testing, they’re then adding in the code for the virus. It means they don’t have to test their base vaccine again so can shorten it (that’s a very simple way of putting it, but essentially what they are trying!)

he is testing my faith,i think we have it wrong and wasted time,for him to say they are surprised at the speed of spread of the virus seems ridiculous when we had time to see it coming and how it spread in china and italy,i was confident till yesterday

Simply no one would accept the draconian measure of shutting shop straight away.
In the weeks leading to the spread over here the front line would have to have been prepared, briefed and equipped to tackle this. Step by step seems the best way out of all the impossible options.

I think it may be an even more fruitful fishing technique on RAWK. The ever present tendency to victimhood along with the genuine misfortune they have suffered with the timing of this virus would make for much fun.

Why do PHE and Boris Johnson keep saying that they will introduce the right measures at the right time? All the measures are needed now.

Sort the testing out. We don't just need numbers we need follow-ups. It's a lot to do. The University of Padua in Italy cleared a Northern Italian town of virus by tracing the asymptomatic carriers. I have just emailed the vice-chancellor of University of Manchester suggesting we do this. Why not?
