13 Italian frontline doctors and nurses have passed away so far and the latest is an anesthetist who collapsed in theatre with the virus (37 year old) gone into intensive care.

the government needs to get the safety equipment for NHS staff as a matter of urgency. Think the PM said today that there were logistic problems getting them to where they needed them but working hard on it.
Wow that is terrible news
RIP

No but I just watched Trump lying through his arse for 1 hour. No comparison mate, and as I said never been a fan of boris. But Trump in a different league for incompetence and lies, at least boris has the intellect to communicate and delegate.
Have to agree with you mate.
What your government is doing or not doing, you can disagree with, and personally I think it is very wishy washy and your in for a rough ride.

But what Trump is at in America beggars belief. Yes they have finally acted but after weeks of denying there was a problem. Now he thinks that people have amnesia and don remember sometimes things he has said no more than a day or two previously.
America is close to a Putin style takeover. It’s unreal what is happening. And the guy is a serious gobshite. He should not be allowed in front of a camera. In any other society he wouldn’t get away with it but what has America come to.?

Boris is no great intellect but he’s Einstein in comparison to Trump.

Mind you. Wouldn’t trust either of them.

The number of people who have died after contracting coronavirus in the UK has risen to 144 - as the number of confirmed cases rose 643 to 3,269, according to the Department of Health.

It comes after NHS England confirmed 29 more people had died in England in the past 24 hours, taking the number to 128.

The latest deaths were people between 47 and 96 years old and all had underlying health conditions.

London's death toll went up 16 and now stands at 52.

I may be completely wrong but i still have this nagging feeling that they are leaning towards the idea of riding this out, while they may not admit it on TV it may still be the preferred option.

I thought the policy had changed and that they were going to ban public gatherings, force pubs, clubs, theatres etc.. to close and bring in strict social isolation. It was only this week there was talk of anyone over 70 being told to isolate by the end of the week an possibly other people at risk.

This has also all gone quiet? It may be that they are trying to create a sense of calm and it seemed to be the case tonight.

As clearly there are far more cases than the confirmed number then you have to say the death rate could be extremely low. Some sources estimate that there are hundreds of thousands of cases already & if that is true the death rate is tiny. That suggests to me that Italy, for instance, either has a more virulent strain or that they too have many times the reported number of cases.
