There's a number of reasons people are sceptical about the numbers being released, it's not just because of old covid cells. And for the record, I'm not talking about antibodies being picked up, but old dead cells, which apparently is a thing (this is now outside of my area of research and i'm just quoting what I've been told).

EDIT: just to add, I'm not denying numbers are going up, what i'm saying is right now i do not believe they are the start of the catastrophic second wave that many seem to be convinced we are now in. I am however saying the numbers are far from exact.

The old dead cells is what caused the initial re infection fears at the start. The test just looks for the RNA and couldn’t determine between living and dead.

You do realise those kids mixing with other kids are then going into their own homes and mixing with parents..... if kids can mix so should adults, it’s either contagious for everyone or no one... making it up as they fucking go along.

From the people I've spoken to they are deeply sceptical of the testing methods and are worried that old covid cells are being picked up by the current tests creating false positives. That is just one reason why I have almost no confidence in the testing figures whatsoever. The main one is that they are simply not testing enough people to have any mathematical confidence in the numbers they are describing as unassailable fact.

Agreed that it does pick up dead RNA but it always has. So it’s a “constant” ( always there, not always the same ) anomaly.

There are other methods at play too. The symptom tracker app for example that 3/4 million people populate daily about how they are feeling ( good or bad ) and symptoms.

That one shows about 12k new cases a day. I’m guessing there is some sort of filtering to limit abuse by random users spamming it.

What is the point in his speeches? Literally gave no new information, then just weirdly emphasised random parts of sentences while he waffled on about how great we are and random fluff. He's incapable of doing the hard bit, actually announcing things people don't want to hear, so instead just leaks it to the media the day before so he doesn't have to be the bad guy. Which is, of course, the way out of it. It’s absolutely criminal that they’ve not sorted that out by now. Track and trace, £500 a week for isolating if you’ve been told to so do, proper local contact tracers employed, testing run by the army, university labs taken over and most importantly: No massive contracts for Tory donors/mates. It’s telling that Serco got a contract and immediately sold it on to Hays travel, both fully experienced in the testing game......
